TOMMY Swan of Columba Villas, Wexford passed away peacefully on August 15 2016 in Wygram Nursing Home.

He was a gentle and kind man who had plenty of time for everyone. He was known to stand outside Nancy Codd’s Betting Shop and Dun Mhuire chatting to people daily. He was also a regular on Wexford Quay, where he would enjoy walks in the sunshine and good conversation with his many friends around the town.

In his younger years, Tommy moved to London to find work and he remained there for many years. He worked very hard there and was very proud of all he achieved. He always had a story or two to share about his adventures there.

Tommy moved back to Wexford over 40 years ago and fully embraced life at home. He was a keen gardener and his garden was always full of life and colour. He loved spending time outdoors and spent seven months of the year living in Curracloe in his mobile home. He lived the dream there. As a keen cyclist, he often pedalled around his scenic surrounds and he also took regular dips in the sea.

Photography was also one of Tommy’s big passions and he had a keen eye for a good shot.

Although Tommy never married, he had a large pool of friends and was very close with his family. He was deeply loved by all who knew him.

In his later years, Tommy fell ill but he remained as strong as ever. He battled his illness with great courage.

His funeral mass took place in the Church of the Assumption Bride Street, followed by a burial in St Ibar’s cemetery Crosstown. A large crowd came out to bid farewell to their dear friend.

Tommy is survived by his sisters Philomena and Mariah; nieces; nephews; sister-in-law Teresa; brothers-in-law Paddy and Ciaran and friends.

May he rest in peace.
