Rosslare road works to continue at night for two weeks

-

DAYTIME roadworks on the Rosslare Road will be finished this Friday, September 2, but work will continue at night for two weeks on a 500m stretch between Roche’s service station and the Drinagh roundabout.

The €2.25 million job which began on August 2 is substantially completed, according to Wexford County Council Director of Services Eamon Hore. The work was scheduled to last almost eight weeks but following complaints about severe traffic delays from local businesses, ferry passengers and motorists, the contract time was shortened to four weeks.

On Monday, the Director of Services said the work was on schedule with the two kilometre stretch between the Kilmore junction and Roche’s garage due to be finished this Friday evening.

‘We worked 12 hours a day to ensure that we completed it within the shortened time frame,’ he said.

The remaining stretch of road can be worked on safely at night because it has public lighting. The re-surfacing of this section is expected to take two weeks to complete.

Mr. Hore said people should still expect delays on the road but most of the disruption will take place before 7 am and after 7 pm. THE Bay Garden in Camolin, owned by Frances and Iain McDonald, is holding a special day on Friday, September 2 from 11 am to 4 pm to highlight the work of Wexford Women’s Refuge.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of garden walks, a plant sale, a book sale and mystery raffle. Refreshments will be served.

The garden is situated between Camolin and Ferns on the N11. The Bay Garden can be contacted on 053 9383349/0868436624, email thebaygarden@gmail.com
