COMPANIES change in a changing economy. As a result, the kind of applicant skills a company looks for and the methods of recruitment used to select them also changes. All very logical, but who told the job seeker ? Established in 2000, the Arklow Job Club has assisted over 3,000 local people back into the workplace. The Job Club is managed by Jerry Dixon, one of the very few registered Work Psychologists specialising in reemployment in Ireland. Our state of the art job seeking courses are designed around the latest research findings that focus on the development of confidence and the awareness of skills. We also train in a variety of job seeking methods, exploring their benefits, limitations, and how to optimise the effectiveness of applications. We also teach techniques regarding the development of human relations between the applicant and the recruiter, how to enhance the first impressions, communicate fit, and build rapport that results in more offers of employment. Our regular and free ‘Job Seeking with Confidence’ course is run in the mornings and is three weeks long. Our personalised coaching and one-to-one service operates in the afternoons on an appointment / referral basis. All participants must be in receipt of a DSP payment in order to qualify for assistance.
