Street Lane in fine form for Tom Codd

LAST WEEK’S action at Enniscorthy Dog Track was all graded races and some nice runs were recorded, especially on Thursday night.

Enniscorthy trainer Tom Codd has his charge, Street Lane, in tiptop order of late and he continued his good form when he took control down the back straight to go on to hold My Céilí by a length and a half over the 550 yards trip. The winning time was a useful 30.42.

Owner John Bolger enjoyed a fine win in race five when his Seagrave Lace made no mistake over the 600 yards trip, scoring by five and a half lengths from Elite Josie, clearly enjoying the extra yardage. Seagrave looks a nice staying prospect.

The Elite team got quick compensation in the next race when Elite Sammy got out well and was always in control, scoring by two and a half lengths from Ravens Jester in 29.24 for owner Patrick Roban (Enniscorthy).

There was a nice double recorded by Co. Kildare sisters Ann and Amelia Burroughs, taking races one and three with Clondouglas Ava and Dredfred Preston, with Ava recording the faster time of 29.28.

On the Monday night Carlow owner Madeline O’Brien followed up her double the previous week as her two, Crossleigh Svan and Olaf, were again far too good for the opposition. They raced to comfortable wins in races seven and eight in smart times of 29.21 and 29.11.

Sven was a real eye-catcher as, after completely missing the break, he came flying home to win going away for an impressive success.
