BREE CEP VACANCIES

Bree CEP is currently taking applicatio­ns for two vacancies: Childcare Assistant (Bri Beag) Ref CES-2010365 and Caretaker/Groundskee­per (Ballyhogue GAA) Ref CES2010372. Applicatio­ns should be made directly to your local Department of Social Protection Office quoting the reference number – qualifying criteria and Garda Vetting applies. Childcare applicants should ideally have a FETAC Level five or higher Childcare qualificat­ion.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

All organisati­ons and individual­s using or wishing to use Bree Community Centre are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm bookings for use for the coming months. This is to avoid any confusion or double booking as the centre will be very busy as Clubs and groups recommence after the summer break.

GUITAR CLASSES

Guitar Classes with teacher Kevin Doyle will resume in Bree Community Centre in September. For more informatio­n or to book a place please contact Kevin at 086 2237819.

IRISH DANCING

The Wexford Academy of Irish Dancing has returned to classes after the summer break. Class times are as normal. New beginners on Saturdays at 10.30 a.m. We will also be starting an additional beginners’ class on Tuesday, September 6, in Bree Community Centre from four to five for girls and a boys class from five to 6. BYGONE STORYTELLI­NG

The Bygone Storytelli­ng house in Oulart and friends present a night of Music Song and stories and Craig in the Riverside Park Hotel Enniscorth­y on September 25 at 8 p.m. A great night is assured. Come along and bring the family bring friends we need you to support this in aid of the Thatching fund. Tickets can be bought at the door on the night.

MUSIC LESSONS

music lessons are starting in September on Tin Whistle and Button Accordion Contact Orla at 086 2329880. Relegation final versus Blackwater in Wexford Park on Saturday, September 10, at 2 p.m. The senior relegation final between St Anne’s and Faythe Harriers will follow at 3.30 p.m.

SENIOR HURLING

Our quarter-final opponents are Naomh Eanna, Gorey. That clash will take place in Wexford Park on Saturday, September 17, 2 p.m. It will be followed by the quarter-final between Rapparees and Cloughbawn at 3.30 p.m. In the event of a draw in the relegation or quarter-finals extra time must be played.

The very best of luck to the Blackwater Macra’s crew getting ready to strike it lucky at the annual county bowling night where clubs will battle it out to win the first county title of the 2016-2017 year winners will then go forward to represent Wexford at the national finals next month. Blackwater Macra is a rural organisati­on for young people between the ages of 17-35 who are interested in getting involved in all sorts such as sports, travel, drama, debating, charity fundraiser­s to social events and much more.

We have kayaking and many other sports and social events coming up on the jam-packed calendar. Membership benefits include 15% off car insurance for young drivers, €50 FBD discount Voucher, 10% discount on selected Ballymaloe Cookery School courses and much more.

In order to raise some funds to undertake this vital job the Oulart committee and friends of the Bygone Days House have organised a night of music, song, stories and craic in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y to take place on September 25, beginning at 8 p.m. A great night of entertainm­ent is assured. SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to our recent winners in split-the-pot: Seán Malone €74, Jimmy Fortune €84, Dylan OGorman €103, Clodagh Byrne €110, Rita Fenlon €83, Naoise Ormonde €89 and Katelyn O’Dwyer €85. Thank You to all who supported this fundraiser over the summer Holidays. Envelopes can be found in Tim’s Chipper, The Sawdust Inn, The Trading Post, Tony’s Daybreak, Bob’s Bar and Bob’s Shop and Takeaway. All funds raised go towards the Ballagh school fund.

In our forthcomin­g Parish Journal, we would like to record all births marriages and deaths in our community from August 2014 to August 2016. Our church register only discloses those baptised or married in Oylegate church and those interred in our cemetery (e.g. grooms from Oylegate most often do not marry in Oylegate.)

ADORATION

Eucharisti­c Adoration takes place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in the church. This is a time of silent reflection and intercesso­ry prayer for personal and parish intentions. We are looking for new members to commit to spending one-hour weekly (at a time of your choice) in prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament. GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot. Lucky-dip winners were Damien Mahon, Willie Kavanagh, Frankie Kehoe, Martin Fitzgerald, Seán Fox, Molly Quigley, J Rowsome, Celia Nolan. Next draw is on September 14 for a jackpot of €12,100. Tickets are available locally.

Work is presently under way to compile the Oylegate-Glenbrien Journal 2015 – 2016, which we hope to publish at the end of the year. Clubs and parish organisati­ons are requested to give us an update on their activities over the past two years.
