GAA LOTTO

The St Fintan’s GAA lotto now stands at €5,100 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match-three prize of €300 up for grabs each week. Last week the following numbers were drawn were 2, 3, 20 and 22. Many thanks for your continued support.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The cost associated with running the men’s teams are endless and it is hoped that these draws will help towards funding it. The draw will run for August and September and will take place on the last Friday of each month. Tickets are €10 each and are limited to just 50 tickets per month with the winner each month receiving €250. Tickets available from any of our players or from club secretary Sharon Pettit. Please support and help the lads on their way to the quarter final come September.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

There will be a church gate collection for the Severely Intellectually Disabled on Saturday and Sunday, September 10/11 in Ballymore and Mayglass Church’s. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

ALL BLACKS AFC

Congratulations to this week’s winner John Harpur who won €420 in our split-the-pot Draw No 34 at Greenacres Pub. Next week’s draw is in the Halfway House. Great prize to be won. ST FINTAN’S LADIES

Our under-16 girls took to the field in Ballymore during the last week in their county semi-final v Blackwater, though the nerves showed a bit during the first few minutes but soon settled, St fintan’s took the lead with well taken scores from Emily Coakley, Aisling Gouldson, Michelle Cullen and Leah Busher. The backline ably led by Eimear Fahy, and goalie (Philippa Murphy) showed great courage and determination dealing with anything that came their way. Our midfielders had an excellent night working really hard. Final score on the night St Fintan’s 4-11, Blackwater 2-2. Roll on the final and good luck Girls.

On Friday evening last our under-14 team arrived in Blackwater to play their county semi-final against the local team. Earlier in the season Blackwater had beaten the girls by sixteen points margin but that was never going to happen on this occasion. Those of you who were not there missed a great game of football. From the outset the girls showed great determination and fought for every ball with good tackling, blockdowns, some great point scoring and energy. Five points down with a few minutes remaining a point was scored by St Fintan’s and was soon followed by a goal. Unfortunately time ran out and Blackwater held on to qualify for county final in which we wish them well.

Thank you girls for your great effort and for your dedication to training during the year.To your parents for driving you to and fro. To the mentors Pat, Ger and Deirdre (a 1000 texts De. ).Not forgetting Margaret and her nice treats after the match. SCOUTS

Registration for new scouting year takes place in Tomhaggard social centre on Wednesday, September 7, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. There are places available for new members in Beaver section (6-8), Ventures (15-18), very limited places in Cubs (9-11) and Scouts (12-15).

We’re also looking for adults who would like to be Scouters or part of parents and friends group. Registration Fee to Head Office, €45 can be paid in increments. Meetings resume on Wednesday, September 14, 7-8.30 and Sat 1011.30. Details 087 6858480.

IRISH DANCING

An Irish Dancing class is starting in Tomhaggard social centre on Wednesday, September 14, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Girls and Boys are welcome from three yrs of age. For more information contact 087 9364255.

BREAKFAST MORNING

A Breakfast Morning will be held in Kilmore hall on Sunday, September 11, 9.30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Full Irish Breakfast €5, proceeds in aid of Tomhaggard social centre.

DRAMA

Ballycogley Players are busy with their One-act plays which will be performed in St Michael’s Hall Wexford during the Fringe Festival, and Full Length play which will go on drama festival circuit in spring.

BOYS UNDERAGE

Our under-12 boys were defeated by Cloughbawn in their hurling final. The boys battled hard and never gave up and did themselves, their families and clubs proud. It just wasn’t to be on the night. Final score Cloughbawn 1: six, OLI/ St Fintan’s 0: 4. These boys still have a football final to look forward which will be played weekend next.

CABARET

To mark the Bicentenary of Mulrankin church Michael English and his band will be performing in cabaret at Clayton Whites Hotel Wexford on November 24 at 8.30 p.m. Tickets costing €20 please call 087 9136932,087 2052820 are also available at the hotel reception. This promises to be a great occasion so book early to avoid disappointment.

BEREAVEMENTS

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Mrs Margaret Monaghon, Randlestown, Ballycogley whose remains were laid to rest in Mayglass cemetery following her funeral Mass, and also to the family and friends of the late Maureen Kelly Ballymore Killinick whos remains were laid to rest in Ballymore following her funeral Mass. May they rest in peace.

CELEBRATION TIME

A trip across to England pays dividends for Mayglass amateur jockey Jamie Codd. Jamie paid his first visit to the famous Epsom racecourse to take a mount in the amateur gentlemen Derby handicap. Riding Hubertas for English trainer JJ Quinn the pair were sent off favourite for this prestigious one mile four furlong handicap.

Throughout the race Jamie kept his mount midway down the field but when the winning post came into site he moved Hubertas to the front and went on to claim a famous victory. This victory was the icing on the cake for the Mayglass man having won the champion point to point jockeys title and his second amateur jockeys title in the recent past.

During this time also Jamie and his wife Robyn were blessed with the birth of their daughter Lottie Belle. We congratulate them on a time of great excitement and joy in the Codd household.

CORACH RAMBLERS

This week’s split-the-pot winner was Marie O’Grady who scooped a cool €705. Well done Marie and thanks to everyone for their continued support.

The new season kicks off this week with our schoolboys under-10s, 12’s, 14’s and 16’s all in action as well as our men’s A & B teams setting out on the silverware trail. The club would like to wish the very best of luck to all players and management for the upcoming season.

GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto jackpot is €4,700 for this Tuesdays draw. Tickets can be purchased from the Post Office Carrig, Seabreeze laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg Wellingtonbridge or any Club Officer down in the complex. Tickets are only two euro each or a book of six for €10. All money and tickets to be down in the complex at 7.30 p.m. Thank you for your continued support to the club.

Well done to the Junior Hurling squad who won their match against Horeswood in New Ross. It was a good physical and tough match on the night on and off the pitch. On Sunday they will take on Clongeen in Taghmon at middday. Best of luck Men and to their mentor’s Pat Fitzharris, Bertie Doyle, Larry Coleman, Ken Foley, John O’Sullivan and Jack Harpur.

Hard luck to the under-12 Boys Hurling team who were beaten by one point in their county semifinal. Six points to Cushinstown 1-04 was the final score.

Congratulations to the under-14 Girls Football Team who came out on top in their Div two Shield Final against Gusserane. Final score Bannow-Ballymitty 6-05 Gusserane 3-07. Match report on the Facebook page.

The under-12 Boys football team had a good win over Rosslare in the Kilmore Tournament.

The under-8 Hurlers travelled to Inistoige to participate in the Like Roche Memorial Tournament recently. Well done to all involved.

FUN RUN

There is a Fun Run/Walk/ Crawl on September 18 at midday in aid of New Ballymitty Hall. Registration from 11 a.m.: €10 Adult, €5 Child. Starting and ending at Old Ballymitty Hall with prizes to be won, music and craic on the day with Johnny G Whizz and a Tea Party for all survivors.

IRISH DANCING

Irish Dancing classes will resume in Ballymitty hall every Monday after school from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Girls and Boys of all ages are welcome from three years. Contact 087 9364255. OLD SCHOOL DRAW

The final Tacumshane Old School draw to cover the cost of the external works with the Tarmac, Tennis Court and Basketball hoop all included takes place at the grand reopening of the hall on Sunday, September 18. Tickets for anybody yet to purchase will be on sale on Our Lady’s Island and Tacumshane after mass this weekend, please support this worthy local cause.
