Blackwater
TIDY TOWNS
Blackwater Tidy Towns would like to thank all who contributed in any way to the sucess in this year’s competition. Special thanks to all the residents of the village who continue to co-operate in maintaining high standards. Thanks also to all who participated in the annual litter lift in April and to those who continue to collect roadside litter. A special thank you to the generous sponsors and to all who supported the summer raffle which is the main fundraising event for the year.
It was a great achievement to maintain second position gaining a precious five points over last year. Congratulations again to county winner Ballycanew with 310 points. Blackwater gained 309, Rosslare 308, Clonroche 306 and Bree 305. Again in the Sustainable Waste and Resource Management category we only achieved 11 points out of a possible 50.
The committee would love to hear from anyone with ideas as to how to achieve an improved outcome in this area. The A GM will be held on Thursday, November 3, at 7.30 p.m. in the Lodge Hotel. This is an open meeting and all are welcome to attend.
COLÁISTE AN ÁTHA
The annual Coláiste an Átha Open Evening will take place in the school on Thursday, October 27, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. All fifth and sixth class pupils and their parents/guardians are especially welcome.
