Michael takes the reins at St. Peter’s PPU

-

MICHAEL Breen, from the Leaving Cert class of 2004, is the new president of St. Peter’s College Past Pupils Union.

The Murrintown man succeeded Noel Browne in the role at the AGM of St Peter’s College PPU held at the school.

The evening began with a Mass concelebrated by past pupils Fr Aodhan Marken and Fr Jim Doyle in the college chapel.

Then, the following were elected for the coming year: president, Michael Breen; secretary, Noel Browne; treasurer, Martin Breen; PRO, David Power; and committee members John Murphy, Ger Shortle, Jim Rossister, Colin Bates, Declan Cloney, Robbert O’Callaghan, school principal, and Fintan Cleary.

Newly elected President Michael Breen hails from Staplestown, Murrintown. He is a qualified engineer who worked abroad for a number of years before returning to the family farm in 2012.

He said: ‘Our first priority is to organise the Christmas Carol singing concert in Rowe St Church on Tuesday night, December 20. The proceeds will be divided between It’s Good 2 Talk Counselling and Psychotherapy Support Services and St Peters College Past Pupils Union.

‘Last year’s Christmas Carol Service Concert was our first attempt at such an event and drew a capacity crowd. This year’s Christmas concert will be even bigger and better and a not-tobe-missed event.

Mr Breen added that more details about the event will be announced at a later date.
