Two parcels of land worth €5,100 are to be sold by council

TWO parcels of land worth a total of €5,100 will be sold following agreement by members of Wexford Borough District.

At last week’s meeting Director of Services Tony Larkin said that the council had been asked to consider disposing of 0.12 hectares of land at Ballyboggan Lower, Castlebridge.

He said that ‘as it was established that the land doesn’t have development potential for the council and is surplus to our requirements the land was placed for sale on the open market.

‘ The land was valued at €5,000 and one bid for that amount was received.’

He said that the property will now be sold to Keith and Natasha Devereux, Rosedale, Kyle Upper, Crossabeg with the Devereuxs being responsible for their own legal costs. The council will pay for its legal costs.

The second patch of land is located at the Gaelic Bar on Distillery Road.

Mr Larkin said that the sale of the Gaelic Bar has been agreed and in the process of preparing contracts it was discovered that a small piece of the site is registered to the borough council.

The plot measures 19.1 square meters. Mr Larkin said that the land will be transferred to David Dempsey of the Gaelic Bar for the nominal sum of €100. Both Mr Dempsey and the council will each be responsible for their own costs.

The members unanimously agreed to both land disposals and the division of costs.
