SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM

Crossabeg Community Alert group wish to remind everyone of the benefits to be gained by having, at a low cost, in your home a safety and personal security alarm system, which gives both you and your family peace of mind. These are available for people over 65 years of age and a Government grant is available to those who qualify. It is easy to apply for and confidenti­al. All you pay is an annual maintenanc­e fee at a most reasonable cost. It is Installed in a matter of days. You will be pleased you did, and so will your family members. ATHLETICS

Juvenile training takes place in the community field every Monday and Thursday evening from seven to 8.15 p.m. till further notice. Members will be notified when the venue will change to the community centre. Anyone interested in joining up for training at the Raven, Curracloe, on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. are most welcome.

Congratula­tions to Paul Freeman who finished in fourth place in a tough 5K race in the under-17 CrossCount­ry championsh­ips held in Adamstown on Sunday week last. Paul finished comfortabl­y even though he was was running out of age.

PARISH CONCERT

The Crossabeg parish concert will take place in the Ferrycarri­g hotel on Thursday, November 3,. This variety concert will feature lots of local talent and your support would be much appreciate­d. Admission is €10 for adults. You can pay at the door on the night of the concert. Tickets are also available from the following committee members, Willie Murphy at 087 2656478; Danny Gayer at 087 7911900 or John Meagher at 086 8904715. Proceeds are solely in aid of church funds.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS FARE

The annual Christmas Fare organised by Annis Kehoe of Slaney Lodge will be held in Kyle Forge on Saturday, December 10. This most popular fund-raising event is a date not to be missed.

On the day, Annis will have the usual Christmas puddings and cakes, as well as preserves, tarts, wreaths and much much more to whet the appetites. Teas and coffees and tasty refreshmen­ts are also served. A raffle will take place with many very good and attractive prizes on offer. This year Annis is staying local with her cause as all proceeds will go towards the new community centre and playing fields at Garrywilli­am.

STORY HOUSE

The next storytelli­ng session will take place at Kyle Forge on Sunday, November 6, and will consist of storytelli­ng, music and recitation­s. Refreshmen­ts are also served.

CHURCH NEWS

Tuesday, November 1, is the Feast of All Saints and Wednesday, November 2, is All Souls’ Day. If you wish to have your deceased family relatives and friends prayed for at this time, please leave your list in at the parochial house. Mass on Tuesday, November 1, will be offered up at 11.15 a.m. and again in the evening at 7 p.m.

Mass on Wednesday, November 2, will be celebrated at 11.15 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the evening. Prayer meeting every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in the parochial house. Daily Mass on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30 a.m.

Adoration every Monday from one to 7.20 p.m. with Mass at 7.30 p.m. Adoration then continues till 9 p.m.

WEDDING BELLS

We send our congratula­tions and best wishes to Orla Browne, Kitestown, whose marriage to Brian Hogan took place in Crossabeg church on Saturday, October 15.

HOUSE OF HORRORS

The house of Horrors will return to the community centre, Crossabeg, for Halloween on Sunday, October 30, and Monday, October 31, from six to 10 p.m each night. Proceeds are in aid Crossabeg-Ballymurn new community centre. If you are brave enough pay a visit, be prepared for many surprises.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The Asthma Society of Ireland will hold their annual church-gate collection this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30. Your generous support would be appreciate­d.

GAA

Last week’s numbers drawn in the Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club draw were 2, 6, 9 and 15.

There was no jackpot winner. Match-three winners were Margaret Carley and Kath, Rose and Sam. The jackpot is worth €10,000 this week.

Well done to the under-21 footballer­s who beat the Starlights in the first round of the Premier championsh­ip on Saturday evening last. In a closely fought game the lads won out 2-10 to 0-13 after extra time. They will play Forth and Bargy Gaels in the quarter final on Saturday next at 3.45 p.m in Ballymurn. The club will hold a Christmas raffle, with a first prize of €1,000. Tickets at €5 each or three for €10 are on sale. Please support.

TABLE QUIZ

Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club will hold a table quiz in the Anvil, Ballymurn, on Friday, November 4, and your support is much appreciate­d.
