FASTNET ROVERS DRAW

Fastnet Rovers are now selling tickets for our Christmas Grand prize draw. Tickets are €20 and limited to 300 tickets with the winner receiving €1,000. Tickets are available from the committee, managers and players. This is a key fundraiser for the club and your support is greatly appreciate­d.

MICHAEL ENGLISH

GAA GEAR FOR KENYA

Seán Sheridan is a 16-yearold student from Newbridge, Co. Kildare, and has made contact with the club to collect GAA memorabili­a (jerseys, shorts, socks, etc.) to bring with him to a homeless children’s charity in Kenya in February 2017. PARISH AEDS

We’re delighted to now have four AEDs in our parish – Baldwinsto­wn, Cleariesto­wn, Duncormick and Rathangan. They are located at the shop in Baldwinsto­wn; Church in Cleariesto­wn; Former post office in Duncormick and on the school in Rathangan. They’re in a bright yellow box. If you suspect a cardiac arrest please call 999/112 FIRST and then, if you can, your voluntary AED team. We will try our best to respond and our number is 086 4011688. BAG COLLECTION

Cleariesto­wn Community Playgroup will be having a Fundraisin­g used clothing collection on Monday, November 14. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes also bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Old mobile phones will also be accepted. You can drop off any items at the playschool any weekday morning between 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

JOKERS WILD DRAW

CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

The students enjoyed Maths Week, which included online activities, daily braintease­rs, estimation challenges and maths trials. The co-ordinating teacher was Ms Fitzgerald.

The parents’ associatio­n have organised a new and used clothing collection in conjunctio­n with the National Council for the Blind as a fundraiser for the school. Please leave in your donations of clothes etc at the school during school hours from now till Thursday of this week, October 27. The NCBI will accept the following: new and used clothing, shoes belts, handbags, linen. Please, do duvets or pillows. The NCBI will sell the garments in their shops nationwide and recycle what they cannot use.

The boys and girls’ teams played quarter final matches of the Rackard League last week. After a great run, alas, both teams were beaten. The girls went down to Bunclody while the boys lost out to Rathangan. Well done to one and all and to the team managers and parents who helped out.

Split-the-pot winner last week was Michaela Bartkova who won €190.

FASHION SHOW

A Fashion Show will be held in the Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club on Wednesday, November 23, commencing at 8 p.m. Proceeds in aid of Curracloe national school. This promises to be a fun night with finger food and a glass of wine included in the price. ‘The Loft’ are providing the clothes for the fashion show and there will also be a benefit stand. Your support would be very much appreciate­d.

DEVELOPMEN­T LOTTO

The numbers drawn in the Curracloe United AFC developmen­t lottery on Sunday, October 16, were 15, 20, 23 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and one match-three winner, Jacqueline Warren, Enniscorth­y, who received €150.

CARDS

Weekly winners of the cards in Hotel Curracloe were Angela Griffith and John Byrne. Cards continue every Thursday night at 9 p.m and all are welcome.

BRIDGE DRAMA

Bridge Drama group are returning to the Wexford Arts Centre stage with Seán O’Casey’s moving classic ‘Juno and the Paycock’. This production is not to be missed and will be staged from Tuesday, November 1, to Sunday, November 6. FUN RUN/WALK AND 10K

St Ibar’s Shelmalier camogie club will host a 6k Halloween fun run and walk and 10k road race on Sunday next, October 30. Races start at 10.45 a.m for the 10k event and at 11 a.m for the 6k. MUSIC SCHOOL

The Shelmalier Music School and Mags Boland Murphy School of Dancing starts back on Tuesdays at the complex in Hollymount.

Children’s lessons from 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. including band practice from six to 6.30 p.m.

Adult classes from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. All instrument­s catered for, tin whistle, button accordian, banjo, guitar (beginners and advanced) singing, whistling, bodhran, drumming, uilleann pipes, fiddle and flute, concertina and keyboard. €7 a lesson or two classes in different instrument­s or dancing for €10, including band. HANDBALL AGM

There was a very good turnout for the annual general meeting of Castlebrid­ge Handball Club, which was held on Friday night last. GAA

After the drawn game on Sunday of last week, the Shelmalier junior hurlers showed their intent from the first ball when they took on Gusserane in the replay in Wexford Park on Saturday. They continued where they left off a week earlier with sheer force and determinat­ion and challenged for every ball from start to finish and the final scoreline of 6-13 to 0-10 accurately reflects this skill and determinat­ion.

Conor Byrne got the Shels off to an early lead with a point in the first minute with Shane Griffith registerin­g his team’s first goal in the tenth minute.

Further points form Conor Byrne, Ronan Kavanagh, Graham Staples and Denis Kelly saw the Shelmalier­s lead by 1-9 to 0-2 at half time. Gusserane played with the breeze in the second half and put some early pressure on the Shels back line of Eoghan Fitzgerald, Kevin O’Leary, Eoin O’Leary and goalie Fergal Hynes cleared their lines on several occasions. Early points from James Cash and Chris Gordon before Shane Griffith got his second goal in the twelfth minute and further goals from Eoghan Nolan (2), James Cash and Michael Feeney saw an easy victory for the black and amber side. Captain Kevin O’Leary received the cup from his aunt Country Secretary Margaret Doyle. Panel included Fergal Hynes, Eoin O’Leary, Kevin O’Leary, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Aaron O’Neill, Graham Staples, Cian Manley, Denis Kelly, Emmet O’Leary, Conor Byrne, Eoghan Nolan, Chris Gordon, Shane Griffith, Ronan Kavanagh, James Cash, Barry O’Connor, Michael Feeney, Stephan Whelan, Paul McCleane, Aodhan Foley, Cathal Gaule, Craig Parker, Michael Kelly, Shane Birney, Joe Redmond and Seamie Harding.
