DRAMA NEWS

The Ballycogle­y Players are busy rehearsing for both the three act and 1-act plays at present. The one acts will be staged from Thursday the 27th to Sunday, October 30, in St Michael’s hall, Thomas Street, Wexford. More details later. The cast and director of next year’s three act circuit play ‘Lay me down softly’ had a visit from the playwright Billy Roche on Thursday night last and a very worthwhile and encouragin­g rehearsal took place. We would like to thank Billy for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and meet with us.

TOPS COMMUNITY GROUP

Kilrane-Rosslare Tops Community Group will host a Family Fashion Show in Danby Lodge on Thursday, November 3, at 8 p.m. This will be a fun filled night for all the family, with fashions supplied from Pennys, Industry, and Candy Boutique Wexford, and local models. There will be guest performanc­es during the interval and valuable raffle prizes on the night. All proceeds to KRH Tops Community Group to help keep our South East Tops show, Village Christmas, Community Weekend and Community Inclusion Projects going in our locality. A great night guaranteed.

Date for your Diary: A race night in aid of St Mary’s Rosslare Coiste na nÓg will be held in Cushens, Tagoat, on Friday, October 28, at 9 p.m. Please come along and support our fundraiser and enjoy and evening of guaranteed fun. There will also be a raffle on the night with some fantastic prizes to be won. opponents, Cloughbawn but like true champions they refused to buckle and used our resources of experience and confidence to get over the line. The whole parish is extremely proud of the exploits of these talented and recordmaki­ng hurlers and know that they always give of their best and that every encounter is enhanced by their sportsmans­hip, skill and honest endeavour. Well done to team captain, Garrett Sinnott who led by example all year and to Keith Rossiter who was awarded ‘Man of-the match’.

Best of luck to OulartThe Ballagh senior camogie team who play the Kilkenny champions in the Leinster semifinal in Thomastown on Sunday, October 30, at 2 p.m. Best wishes also to Wexford and Oulart-The Ballagh mid-field player, Shelley Kehoe at the All-Star Awards, in City West on Saturday, November 5. Our under-18 team will contest the Co. final shortly. Good luck to them and their management.

MASS READERS

Joan Doyle and Johnny Masterson are scheduled to read at Masses this coming weekend, October 30. Anne Sinnott and Eileen Kehoe-Flynn are on reading duty on November 1 while Mary Fitzgerald and Linda Masterson are Ministers of the Word on fifth/November 6.

OULART SPLIT-THE-POT

This week’s winner of Oulart split-the-pot is Martin Harris who was the lucky winner of €237, having won €207 quite recently. Martin is to be congratula­ted on his good fortune and is to be thanked for regularly supporting this draw. In fact, the Harris family are great supporters of all parish fund-raising activities so it is good to see one of them being lucky. Perhaps Martin should make sure to do Euro Millions/ National Lottery and maybe his luck will continue. Everyone is encouraged to do ‘Split-the Pot’. Entry envelopes are available in all local businesses. To be in with a chance to win just put €2 in the special envelope, seal it and write your name and contact details on the front. SCOIL MOCHUA PARENTS’ ASSOCIATIO­N

The AGM was held recently and the following were elected to oversee the affairs of the Associatio­n for the coming year. Jennifer Parkin (Chairperso­n), Tina Rossiter (Vice-Chairperso­n), Pauline Moore (Secretary), Joanne Jackman (Assistant Secretary), Breda Walsh (Treasurer), Michelle Butler (Assistant Treasurer) and Marianne Cooney (PRO). Help is always needed in the parents’ associatio­n, with fund-raising activities throughout the year. If you would like to help, please contact school secretary Bridget at 0563-9136177. The committee would like to thank everyone who attended the AGM and for the ongoing support.

HALLOWEEN DISCO

This year’s Halloween Disco will be held on Friday, October 28, between 6.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. at the Community Centre. Entry is €5 and all funds will go towards much needed resources for the school. There will be a raffle on the night and fancy dress is a must.

BYGONE DAYS

The Bygone Days House of Stories Committee members are hosting a Craft Fair at the Thatched House in Lower Oulart on November 20. All crafts are welcome, the more unusual the better. Spaces are still available. Contact 087 9116695 for full details. Make a note of the date and come along and help support the Thatching Fund. The organising committee are asking people to donate household items, books, toys, clothes etc. in short, anything and everything that would sell at a car boot sale that is on October 29. Items will be collected if necessary. Ring 087 9116695 if you would like to donate items for the car boot sale. All proceeds to the Thatching Fund.

DVD

A DVD of the Story-telling Night in the Riverside Park Hotel is available from Oulart Post Office. It is priced at €10. Proceeds from the sale of the DVD will help the Thatching Fund also.

PAINTING AND PRINTS TO HELP THATCHING FUND

As part of the Wexford Fringe Festival, The Paintbox Gallery, Lower Oulart will open every day from October 25 to November 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Paintbox will also have a Pop-Up Gallery at 16 George St., Wexford for the duration of the festival. As part of the fundraisin­g effort for the Bygone Days Thatching Fund an original painting of the house of stories by local artist, Martina Furlong, plus prints and cards of the painting will be available to purchase at the two galleries.

Joan and Sheila who organised the recent coffee morning in the Oulart Hill Bar would like to thank Paul Roche for the use of his premises and to thank everyone who attended, bought tickets, and donated prizes. The coffee morning was held to help support local girl, Sarah-Louise Fortune as she goes to college in Waterford to study Independen­t Living. As this course is part-time she is not entitled to grants. The amount raised at the coffee morning was €570, a sum that will go some small way to assist Sarah-Louise to pursue her study. The Door Prizes were won by Des Mythen (Pirates Cove Golfing for two adults and two children) and Jason Travers (Bottle of Wine). The prizewinne­rs in the raffle were Oisín O’Connor, Martin Leacy, Sarah-Louise Fortune, Calum Kavanagh, Marie Brady, Kirsty Kavanagh, Sheila Mythen, Marion Quigley, Caroline O’Brien and Mary McDevitt.

CHARITY DANCE

Rathnure Hall will host a Charity Dance on Saturday, November 5, in aid of the ‘Kevin Bell Repatriati­on Trust’. This Charity, set up in 2013 aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families bringing home the body of a loved one who has died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstan­ces. Music for the dance will be by Mick Comerford and admission, including tea, is only €10.

BENEATH MY ANGEL’S WINGS

A coffee morning and balloon release in remembranc­e of children who have died takes place in the Presentati­on Centre, Enniscorth­y, on Saturday, November 5, 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Cathedral, Enniscorth­y, on November 23 at 7 p.m.

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions and well done to our intermedia­te hurlers under the management of MJ Reck on their great win in the county final against Adamstown. It’s great for the club to return to senior ranks for 2017, the lads and the back room team have put in a lot of work so well done to all. We play a team from Meath on November 5 in the Leinster championsh­ip and if anyone is interested in travelling by bus please contact Majella to book your seat.

STORYTELLI­NG GROUP

The next song and storytelli­ng session will take place in Mac Cormacks Lounge on Wednesday next, October 26, at 8 p.m. Please come along and join us on the night, there wil lbe plenty of Music Songs and Entertainm­ent on the night tea and refreshmen­ts and a raffle, admission is free so please come along and join us on the night, and if you have a musical instrument please bring it along on the night Everyone welcome Young and Old, looking forward to seeing you there.

HOLY FAMILY PRIMARY SCHOOL

This year we will be facilitati­ng the collection of boxes for the Shoebox appeal for anyone interested in taking part. There are informatio­n leaflets available in the school office. Boxes can be left int the school during the week we come back after mid term.

THE WITCH WALK.

For the first time ever the PA and the Children and Staff of the school will take part in a sponsored Witch Walk which will take place on Friday next, October 28. The children will walk from the school in costume along a route which will have scare stations where the. p.a will have games and activities along the route if you are available to dress up and come along you are more than welcome if you have any decoration­s to loan.or donate we would be greatfull. You can also donate cakes and buns for the tea and games afterwards which will take place in the school. please come ongoing a d join in the fun.

THE PASTORAL COMMITTEE

The Pastoral Committee would like to say a special thank you to all those who donated produce for the Harvest celebratio­n mass. in the church last weekend. The produce was donated to the Women’s Refuge in Wexford after. The Women’s Refuge would also like to extend their thanks to all involved.
