So much to do in Wexford this festive season

THE OLD Library Building in Wellington Place car park will be transforme­d into an indoor vintage cinema for the Christmas season as part of the Wexford Winterland Festival.

A new addition to the festival this year is the pop up cinema, where Christmas movies will be shown from December 17 to 23. Screenings include Home alone and Elf (December 17); Miracle on 34th Street and Meet me in St Louis (December 18); Cinema Paradiso (December 20); Arthur Christmas and Die Hard (December 21); Love Actually (December 22); Frozen and It’s a Wonderful Life (December 23).

Meanwhile at Selskar square, a vintage fairground will be running each weekend and daily from December 17 to 23. Santa’s train will also wind its way around town from November 27 to December 23.

Residents of Wexford and beyond are being encouraged to get in the spirit of things on December 22 from 6 p.m. as Wexford attempts to set two new world records on Wexford Quay: one for the biggest number of Christmas jumpers in one place (current record 3,400) and one for the biggest number of Christmas crackers pulled in one place.

Those who want to pick up some gifts for loves ones of for themselves may choose to venture to The Bull Ring Christmas market, where of crafts and seasonal goods will be on sale.

The Wexford People Wexford on Ice rink also opened its doors last week and will run until January 8.

In true Christmas spirit, Wexford County Council is offering free parking in all council public car parks each day from December 19 to December 24 from 10 a.m. each day. This arrangemen­t will apply in all four towns across the county so to avoid confusion and have a consistent approach in all areas.
