CORACH NEWS

This week’s split-the-pot winner was Kaleb and Kyrin O’Sullivan, Who take away a fantastic €814. Congratulations, boys. A huge thank you to everyone for your continued support.

Corach under-13s kept themselves top of the table with a solid 3-0 win away to Glynn-Barntown today. Ben Smith converted a great Alex Power cross in the opening minute to put the black n whites one up. A few missed opportunities including a shot from Alex coming back off the post meant the boys couldn’t increase the lead before half time. A stronger second half performance soon saw Corach deservedly go further ahead when Tom Moran finished low to the keepers left. Cormac McGee put the tie to bed soon after with a fine headed goal from a Ben Smith corner. Conor Cleary almost grabbed a fourth but unfortunately the ball came back off his own man on the goal line with just seconds to go in the game. Overall a decent performance from the boys, without hitting the heights of the last few games and a very good clean sheet sets us up for the final four games of the season. Huge improvement from this bunch of chaps this year and plenty more to come.

Under-15s finally showed what they’re capable of today with a comfortable 6-2 win over St Leonards, a team who bet us 4-0 at the start of the year. Robbie Rochford set the tempo early on with some fine dribbling and high work rate and provided a pin point cross for John Crosbie to tap in our first of the afternoon. Eoin O’Connor added a second soon after but Leonard’s came back and it was back to 2-1 at HT. The dangerous Eoin O’Connor was brought down in the box five minutes into the second half, a penalty from which Cathal Cummins made no mistake. John Crosbie scored his second of the game in between two Robbie Rochford goals to make sure of what was to be a great victory for the Corach lads. Leonards scored a soft goal late on but the result was never in doubt, a fantastic performance from everyone involved.

Under-14 girl’s v Tombrack: Grace Donovan put Corach ahead only to see the away team win by 7-1. A definite penalty and a goal that was offside were missed by the ref but unfortunately the girls lost the game despite giving their best. Outstanding players were Grace Donovan, Ciara Cummins and Kaelagh Farrell.

B team were at home today against Wexford bohs where we ended up with a 3-1 defeat. Our slow start to the game was what killed us in the end. We got a lot of chances in the first half but couldn’t put them away and it ended 2-0 at half time. After the break we lifted it and went at them from the whistle. Early in the half we pulled one back through Jon Reville and felt we could have got something from the game so we kept pushing but didn’t take our chances. They killed the game of through a corner near the end and so it’s back to the training ground to get things right for next week’s game
