Kiltrea Mike in fine form

-

THERE IS a meeting of Greyhound Racing Integrity Ireland (G.R.I.I.) at Enniscorthy greyhound track tonight (Tuesday) at 8.15 p.m. in the bar.

This group has attended the recent I.G.B. greyhound forums and will be updating owners on progress on dealing with issues that have been brought to the group’s attention. All greyhound owners, trainers and breeders are welcome to attend.

The Roban Financial Services (Enniscorthy)-sponsored unraced stake finals were run on Monday of last week, and local owner, trainer and breeder John Doyle enjoyed a very nice win in the plate final (race four).

His Kiltrea Mike got out well from traps to lead into the first bend and was never going to be beaten after that as he went on to score by four lengths in a good 29.17.

In the next race, the open unraced final, his brother, Kiltrea Breeze, made up eye-catching ground and stayed on strongly to get the runners-up spot behind Oreo in a time of 29.26.

The Speedrite A4 final with a fine prize of €2,000 went to Daniels Dream who flew from traps to lead and ran out a snug winner from the running on Tagalong Hylander in a good time of 29.12 to the delight of the Four Pioneers syndicate from Gorey.

In race seven, the Thomas Breen (Ferns)-owned Womans Champ showed her field a clean pair of paws from traps as she showed good early gears to lead and ran out a comfortable winner in a decent 29.09.

The last race of the night produced the best finish as Tagalong Roy and Strictly Buster had a titanic battle all the way to the line. Opinions were divided on who had prevailed, and after the photo was studied the verdict went to Tagalong who has now recorded five straight wins on the bounce. The time was a best of the night 28.96.

There was no racing on Friday night due to the track being unsafe as frost was still in the ground. Last Friday night’s card will now be run this Thursday, and there will be racing Friday night also.
