ART exhibitions, poetry readings and speeches are just some of the events on the cards for the ‘Gathering of Women’, which will be held by ACCESS Wexford at Wexford County Council buildings on December 6.

Taking place at ‘ The Street’ in County Hall, the event aims to highlight the Women’s Aid National 16 Days of Action ‘Change the Conversation’ Campaign for 2016, as well as showcase the work and talent of women from various communities in Wexford.

Later on will see there will be the launch of the ‘Crochet for Cancer’ Fundraising Campaign by the Loreto TY students. In another charitable initiative, the ACCESS Knitting and Crochet group will donate hand-knitted hats for premature babies to the maternity unit of Wexford General Hospital.

The group will also launch their ‘Could This Be You’ Art Installation on the day.

There will be poetry readings from Magda and Jenny from Rainbow Wholefoods, while guest speakers include Anita Carroll from Gorey Family Resource Centre and Pauline Ennis from Wexford Women’s Refuge. To end the day, Wexford Women’s Refuge will perform their drama piece ‘Lisa Go Home’ by Imelda Carroll, which they recently performed at Tesco Wexford to highlight the issue of domestic violence.
