NO DANCE CLASS

There will be no social dance class in Camross Ballroom on this Thursday, December 8, due to a prebooked event but classes will resume on Thursday, December 15, at 8.45 p.m. Come along and Vilma will have you dancing Quick Steps, Modern Jive, and several other dances.

DANCING AT CAMROSS

Liam Mannering had his huge number of followers dancing well into the early hours of Sat mornng last. Liam and Marie will be back in Camross during 2017 but Catherine and the Images will provide the music for the first dance of 2017 which will be held on Friday, January 6. The committee of Camross Hall thank all who supported their monthly dances during 2016 and a very happy Christmas to all with every good wish for 2017.

CAMROSS DRAMA GROUP

After the Group’s successful run of One-act plays, thoughts are now turning to planning for the Three-act play for Spring 2017. There will be a reading of ‘Canaries’ by Bernard Farrell, a comedy, on Wednesday, December 7, 8 p.m. in Caroreigh Old School. Actors, male and female, of all ages invited to read for casting. We had a great day on Sunday, November 27, in the Taghmon-Camross GAA Complex where we had our annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party. A big thank you goes to Fr Robert MC for the day, to Taghmon-Camross GAA Complex for the lovely venue, and to Mick and Michelle Carty who looked after the bar.

We are also very grateful to all who entertaine­d us all through the afternoon: the In House Band – Joe and Jack Curran, Joan Quigley and Mick Sinnott; Marie O’Rourke; Marian Donnely; Aoife Codd; dancers, Gillian and Laura Banville and Aideen Winters; harpist, Niamh Leacy; dancer, Ciara Goddard; tin whistle player, Cora Banville; Paddy Curran; Val Whitty; Fr Robert Maguire; Maggie Morrissey; Fr David Murphy and Breda Banville. We would like to extend a massive thank you to them all for a wonderful afternoon. And let’s not forget the ICA ladies who prepared and served a delicious Christmas dinner.

The Federation meeting took place on November 28 in the Ferry Carrig Hotel. Mary Kelly did the double winning both the hot cross bun and the cherry cake competitio­ns. Congratula­tions Mary – a very talented lady. Also
