CFR ROSSLARE

Community First Responder is a community based initiative designed to bridge the gap between a medical event and the arrival of HSE ambulances and paramedics.

As we all know the first minutes in a cardiac event are vital and response times of ambulances especially in rural areas varies dramatically. Ger Carthy our local public representative and professional paramedic has agreed to support us in setting up such a system here in Rosslare. We need a minimum of 20 people to start the programme, please indicate your willingness to at least know more about what is involved by emailing your contact details to cfrrosslare@gmail. com.

The five organisations involved in split-the-pot have agreed to assist with the cost of training. This training will include CPR. I would envisage that volunteers would only have to make themselves available or on call for one-day a fortnight, the more volunteers we get that frequency will become less, many hands make light work. Please show you care email cfrrosslare@gmail.com.

ROSSLARE TIDY TOWNS

We had a very enjoyable morning in Scoil Mhuire hearing about all the activities and plans of the Green School Committee. We presented the committee with certificates and the school with a plaque acknowledging all their hard work.

It may be cold but we are now working on our winter maintenance program. Planning of projects for 2017 are now being developed and we would really appreciate any help that we can get. A big thank you to the transition year girls who are helping us every Saturday.

Visit rosslaretidytowns.com or Facebook Rosslare Tidy Towns Volunteers. Ph 086 8337324. Please note the amount of Dog Poo is becoming a major issue and we appeal to all dog owners to be responsible.

CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM

I hope all the little visitors that have taken up residence on the beach recently move off before the big day. We would like to thank those who have pledged a few bottles for the punch, if there are any more out there please let us know. It is hard to believe and I don’t want to scare you but there is only four weeks left to Christmas.

So it is time to iron the togs and warm up the towel and get ready for the annual baptism in frosty waters that is the Christmas Day Swim. The bucket collection on the day is as always for St Mary’s Day-care centre, but it is also a great opportunity for other organisations to raise money.

If you are planning a sponsored swim on the day please let us know by emailing your details to rgdflynn@gmail.com.
