CORACH NOTES

This week’s winner of the Corach Ramblers split-the-pot is Leo Harpur Bannow, Leo claims a fantastic €732, congratulations. As usual thanks a million to everyone for your continued support.

The A-team were at home to bridge rovers today in a top of the table clash and had an excellent 2-1 win, we were forced into a few positional and personnel changes today as we were missing three players but we got off to the perfect start inside a minute we won the ball back from the bridge kick off and the ball found its way to mark Sinnott who played an excellent through ball to hermi who rounded the keeper and slotted home, we didn’t make the most of that start as for the most of the first half bridge were the better side, we lived dangerously at times and paid the price just before half time when we failed to deal with a long ball and conceded a poor goal to go in level at half time, admittedly we could count ourselves fortunate as it could have been a lot worse. We used the halftime break to regroup and in fairness to the lads they came out much better in the second half. We upped our tempo and our work rate and started to dominate the game and were creating some good chances but just couldn’t stick one away. Bridge were dangerous on the counterattack but we dealt with it much better than the first half, with 12 minutes to go we won what must have been our 10th corner of the half and an excellent delivery from Chops was met with a bullet header from Gareth to put us 2-1 up. Bridge threw everything at us for the remainder but we held out and got ourselves a big three points. Next week it’s back to FAI junior cup action as we are at home to Balscadden FC from Dublin in the fifth round.

The B team were at home today against top of the table Rosslare rangers in what ended up been a very exciting game. Both teams started the game well with end to end football. They went ahead first but as always the boys never dropped the head and got control of the game and levelled soon after through Jon Reville and not long after that we went ahead when Reville blasted the ball into box which hit a defender and nestled in the bottom corner. Just before the break they were awarded a peno and it was a drawn game at the break. After the break we knew all we had to do was up our tempo that bit more and we would take all three points and the lads did just that and with a bit of luck Jack took a free kick well inside our half which bounced in their box and found its way to the net. Reville got his second soon after with a great finish and so it was 4-2. They pulled one back near the end which made for a nervous finish but the boys defended well and saw out the game for a great result. Good day all round for the club and puts both teams in great positions.

The under-12 girls were away to Ross Celtic today in very cold conditions went 2-0 up with two very good goals from Sarah Murphy but with 10 minutes to go all our hard work was undone by the ref giving away a very soft penalty for handball. With the score at 2-1 we missed a chance to go 3-1 but Ross came back to 2-2 and with the second last kick off the game Ross scored again for three to 2. The girls played really well and were by far the better team.
