Ramblers rally to beat their local rivals

Title hopefuls Corach Ramblers added three points to their tally on Sunday but they were made to work hard by local rivals Taghmon United.

Taghmon may be rooted to the foot of the table but they took the lead against Corach through a Seamie McLoughlin penalty before Niall Harney levelled matters with a free-kick.

Harney edged Corach in front from the penalty spot, but Jamie Cahill plundered an equaliser for Taghmon with five minutes remaining.

However, Ramblers refused to lie down and Barry Sinnott grabbed the winner in the fourth minute of injury time.

James Coleman snatched a last-minute winner for Tombrack to edge out Forth Celtic 3-2.

Eoin Carton scored the other two goals for the winners, with Jesse Farrell and Lee Busher replying for Forth.

Paul Roche netted a hat-trick, including an equaliser with the last kick of the game, as St. Joseph’s drew 4-4 with Wexford Bohs.

Shane Doherty got the other goal for the Kilmuckridge outfit, with Aaron Lambert, Paddy Harnett, Emmet Ryan and Seán Pailing replying for Bohs.

St. Leonards secured a 4-2 win away to Ferns United (see focus match).

Stoney Rovers put themselves in the shake-up for promotion with a 3-2 win away to Wexford Celtic on Sunday.

Anton Stafford scored from the halfway line for the visitors, with Willie McDonald also getting on the scoresheet and Martin Delaney hitting the back of the net from 25 yards.

Ajax Athletic hit bottom side Gorey Rangers for six, with Jason Russell (two), Craig Dwyer, Glen Fortune, Graham Donohoe and Seán Farnan scoring for the Enniscorthy side in a 6-1 victory.

Crossabeg and Adamstown shared the spoils after a 0-0 stalemate, while Shelburne edged out Fastnet Rovers 3-2 with goals from John Murphy, Brian Minogue and Paddy Murphy.

Division2A

Second-placed North End United fought back from 2-1 down to take all three points against Killenagh Wanderers on Sunday.

Dean Roche, Jay Leniston and Ciarán Carty scored the goals for the town side in a 3-2 victory.

New Ross Town ran out 5-2 winners against Rathnure United thanks to a superb hat-trick from Seán Duffy and a brace from Packie Kinsella.

Rosslare Rangers won by the same scoreline against Fethard Rangers, with James Delaney, Danny O’Reilly (two), Gary Collins and Jake O’Connor scoring for the winners.

Luke White and Ciarán Redmond got the goals for Forth Celtic in their 2-1 win over Duncannon, while Rosslare Port and Enniscorthy Town shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw.

Bree United moved back to the top of Division 3 on Sunday thanks to a 2-1 away win over Oylegate United.

Dylan Dalton and Eddie Galavan got the goals for Bree as they leapfrogged Enniscorthy United, who lost 1-0 away to New Ross Celtic, with the winner coming courtesy of an own goal.

Nicky Sinnott was the match-winner for Cushinstown as he netted both of their goals in a 2-1 victory in Ferns.

Ballymurn also collected three points on their travels as they beat The Ballagh 3-2 with goals from Paul Dempsey, Dylan Ring and Shane O’Rourke.

Raheen were too good for Caim United, running out comprehensive 4-0 winners thanks to a double from Dylan Whitty, a goal from Shane Whelan, and a spectacular 40-yard strike from Peter Finn.

Wexford Albion edged ever closer to the Division 3A title with a 2-1 away win over Rosbercon United on Sunday.

Castledockrell and Shelburne drew 1-1 with James ‘Skinner’ Finn scoring for the hosts and Jessie Quigley replying for Shelburne, while Patrick Fortune bagged a double for Courtown Hibs as they played out a 2-2 draw in Kilmore.

Michael Harvey and Aaron Kielthy got the goals for the home side.

All Blacks saw off St. Leonards 3-0 on Sunday with goals from Mark Doyle, Shane Sinnott and Peter Goldsmith.

Gorey Celtic and Corach Ramblers shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw, with Seán Feeney and Dillon Kenny scoring for the hosts and Conor Neville and James Crosbie replying for Corach.

Higor Garcez netted a hat-trick for Boolavogue as they beat Bree United 6-3, with Conor Kinsella (two) and Lee Murphy also scoring for the winners and Seán Ring (two) and Shane Jordan replying for Bree.

Champions Cloughbawn ran out 7-1 winners against Enniscorthy Town, while Tony Kenny netted a hat-trick for Shamrock Rovers as they brushed aside Ajax Athletic 6-0, with Pa Redmond, Mark Redmond and Michael Clinton getting their other goals.

Anthony Roche and Darren Hayden got the goals for Taghmon United in their 2-1 win over Tombrack, with Eoin Murphy replying.

League leaders Wexford Albion collected another three points on Sunday thanks to a 2-1 win over Stoney Rovers.

James Sweeney (two) and Jamie Doyle got the goals for St. Cormac’s as they saw off Cushinstown 2-1, while Caim United beat Duncannon 2-0.
