PILATES

Pilates classes take place in Screen hall every Tuesday morning from 10.11 a.m. and newcomers are most welcome. Classes take place in Castlebrid­ge community centre on Sundays from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Contact 086 8122535 for further details.

CIRCUIT TRAINING

Morning and evening classes are available (no more than 12 in each class) and are tough but fun workouts with a team experience. Beginner/advanced classes and circuits for the over-55s are also available. Contact Debbie at 086 8122535 for further informatio­n.

OPERATION OVER THE WATER

Well done to all who turned out last week for the first night of Operation Over the Water in conjunctio­n with the TV programme Operation Transforma­tion. Thanks to Yvonne Busher, who put everyone through their paces with her dance class and to Fit Nutz for keeping everyone going outside. Congratula­tions to Annette Barron, winner of the hamper which was sponsored by Ann Ruttlidge of Bloom n Veg, Castlebrid­ge.

Check-in and weigh-in tonight, Tuesday is at 7.30 p.m. with class/walking/jogging/running at 8 p.m. The event will continue till March 12. The organisers are encouragin­g everyone to participat­e not just with the aim to lose weight but also to be more active, improve health and wellbeing, and above all have fun. Please bring your family and friends with you.

APPRECIATI­ON

A big ‘thank you’ to all who supported the coffee day held in the Porter House in Castlebrid­ge, on Wednesday, December 21. A total of €1,000 was raised for the Castlebrid­ge Day Care centre and the money has been handed over to members of the committee.

5K WALK AND PRAYER

A 5K walk and prayer for Darren Corrigan will be held on Curracloe beach at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, and will include a barbecue, a raffle and an auction. Music afterwards in Freddie’s bar in Screen. Sponsorshi­p cards are available from Pat Ennis at Freddie’s bar. Please give your generous support as all money raised will go to Wexford General Hospital. So get those walking shoes on and start practising to support this worthy cause.

CARDS

The weekly winners of the cards in Hotel Curracloe were Angela Griffith and John Byrne. Last week’s winners were Austin Hearne and Murt Kelly. Cards continue every Thursday night at 9 p.m. till Easter. There is an open draw and all are welcome.

CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

Parents Jessie and Esther O’Connor have organised a 5K fun run/walk for Sunday, February 26, which will begin at the school at midday. Registrati­on will take place at the school from 10.30 a.m. and refreshmen­ts are served afterwards in the school. All funds raised will go to the school.

Enrolments for September 2017 are now open. If you wish to enrol your child, you can pick up a registrati­on form from the school office or download same from the website. Return the completed form as soon as possible. Mrs Byrne, the Infants teacher will host an informatio­n afternoon for parents in mid May and this will be followed up with two induction days in late June.

Recent Split the pot winner was Shelly Breslin, who won €194.

All roads lead to Hotel Curracloe this coming Friday, January 27, at 9 p.m. for what is expected to be the social event of the year for the parish.

MONSTER RAFFLE

The Shelmalier GAA Club is holding a monster raffle with some fantastic prizes on offer. Tickets are on sale locally for just €2 or three tickets for €5. The draw will take place in Hotel Curracloe on Friday night next, January 27 at the Prickly Rose of Shelmalier final.

Castlebrid­ge national school are now accepting enrolments for September 2017. These forms are available from the school office or by contacting 053 9159442. Forms to be completed and returned to the school by March 16.

CONDOLENCE­S

We extend our condolence­s to the family of the late Paula Keville, Ballaghnab­lake, Curracloe, which occurred on January 13, especially to her partner Keith, parents Marian and Brendan, brothers Alan, Edwin, sisters Anne and Emma, Grandmothe­r, close family relatives and friends. Requiem Mass took place in Curracloe church on Monday, January 16, with cremation at a later date. RIP.
