The following events are taking place shortly; draughts, chess, table quiz, gymnastics, badmonton, rugby, soccer under-14 girls and swimming. CAMOGIE

Well done to Presentati­on Wexford Senior camogie team on their Leinster C final win on Saturday and to the Glynn-Barntown contingent Cora Doyle, Emma Sweeney, Emma Dempsey and Holly Hynes and manager Ciarán Walsh.

Hard luck to the Loreto Senior camogie team and the Glynn-Barntown players on that side – Emma Kiely, Clodagh Jackman, Róisín Cooney, Clare O’Gorman, Jessie Morrissey and Aisling Halligan – defeated in the A final by just one point by Loreto Kilkenny on the same day.

COISTE NA NÓG

Our Minor footballer­s defeated Clongeen/Fethard in the O’Loughlin Cup on Sunday in Killurin and now advance to the next stage following this victory.

Well done to Glynn-Barntown’s Richie Ryan, Dylan Lyne, Aaron Breen, Cormac Rowe, Adam O’Leary-Murphy, Matthew Banville, David Roche and Jack Brazzill and the St Peter’s College Senior Football time who defeated Wicklow Schools during the week to book a Leinster A Final place v Moate.

COACHING FORUM

A ‘Coaching Forum’ will be held in the clubhouse on Friday, January 27, at 8 p.m. All our underage coaches are asked to attend. Donal Doyl e – coaching officer with Dublin GAA (and one time Glynn-Barntown Senior Hurler) – will make a presentati­on on player developmen­t from the early years.

Well done to Mark Fanning and the Wexford Senior Hurlers on their Walsh Cup win over Dublin on Thursday night in Hollymount.

GYM MEMBERSHIP

Access to Gym in 2017 – Please note that all electronic fobs will be deactivate­d from January 31. Anyone who still has time to elapse on their gym membership should contact Danny O’Brien at 086 1089553, John Cooney at 087 2807679 or Suzanne Goff at 087 2211641. Arrangemen­ts will be made to keep your fob active or replace it with an active fob. Users or intending users should note that access to the gym during 2017 may be restricted at times during periods of group training of our club teams.

Our club is hosting an Appreciati­on Night on Saturday, January 28, in the clubhouse to acknowledg­e and thank all of our hardworkin­g committees, mentors and volunteers for their contributi­on over the past 12 months. Music and finger food. Everybody welcome to attend and enjoy the night.

Well done to our three senior club and county stars – Mark Fanning, Emma Walsh and Aoife Sheil – who took part in a great county fundraiser last night in Whites hotel ‘Fittest Superstars’ and to everyone involved on a novel, entertaini­ng event.

MAYOR OF BARNTOWN

Hi folks, after nearly three weeks on the election campaign trail, our six candidates finally find out who is topping the leader board as we present our first election update this Friday night, January 27, at election headquarte­rs – Mary Jo’s.

Kicking off at around 9 p.m. everybody is most welcome where we’ll have music, updates from all of the events held so far and of course, the all important news on who is the current leader in our race to be mayor event. HERITAGE TALK: Did you ever wonder about the history behind some of the iconic landmarks within our prish? Now is the time to have your questions answered. On behalf of the O’Dowd mayoral campaign, an invitation is extended for you to join us at our ‘Historic Talk’ in the Heritage Park on Monday, February 13, at 7 p.m. The presentati­on will be given by none other than our great local Historians Tom and Teresa Wickham. This is an evening not to be missed. Everybody welcome. Adults €5 – children free.

Operation Transforma­tion Walks continue take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the new Parish Pitch beside community centre. €1 per night, all welcome and bring torch.

Last week’s lucky winner of split-the-pot was Aideen Bradley (Old Boley). Aileen’s prize money was €170. Draws will continue every Thursday night in the community centre. DISCO

A disco will take place in Barntown Community Centre on Friday, February 24, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will be fully supervised and is for anyone one in classes between fifth class and second year. This is a fundraiser for TOM DEMPSEY in the race to be mayor of Barntown. Tickets are €3 each and can be bought on the door on the night. See you there.
