The St Fintan’s GAA lotto now stands at €3,900 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. and from club members at a cost of €1.50. ALL BLACKS AFC
There was great news from Co Clare at the weekend in the under-13 SFAI cup. All Blacks AFC with a 2-1 win with goals from Tadhg McDonald and Kyle Rankin. The boys are now through to the last 16 in this nationwide competition. Fantastic for this small club and well done to all the managers, brilliant players and parents. Great travelling support for this long treck and thank you all. Tired bodies but happy fans and players on the long journey back. Safe travels and congratulations from the All Blacks AFC family.
The under-11s played in the Leisuremax Cup Round 1 against worthy apposition Rosslare Strand. Great display by both teams but two first half goals, one a deflected shot by Aaron Ennis and the other a close range finish by Charlie Ellard were enough to see us into the second round. Two great saves, one in the first half and one in the last minute meant Davy Coughlan put in a man of the match. Final result to All Blacks AFC coming out on top with a hard fought 2-1 victory. Well done to all the boys.

Congratulations to Aoibheann Rankin and Tara Cullen, who lined out for the under-11 Wexford LTC team v Dublin MGL team in Duncannon. Both girls put in great performances for Wexford and Tara made some brilliant tackles at left back to prevent the opposition from scoring, while Aoibheann dominated in mid field and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.
CONGRATULATIONS
The parish of Ballymore/Mayglass sends its congratulations to one of its own Shelley-Ann Quilty, Mountpleasant, Killinick who had a great year in 2016 when she was honoured as a ‘Rising Star’ in New York by Super Lawyers magazine for her work in Employment Litigation.
Only 2.5% attorneys are selected to ‘Rising Stars’ by their peers in other law firms in New York. In addition Shelley-Ann was inducted as honoury treasurer of the Irish Business Organisation of New York Inc. executive board.
Shelley-Ann is a Bachelor of Economics, Master of Psychology and a Juris Doctor of Laws. She is a credit to this tiny parish, County Wexford and most of all her family and many friends.
Shelley-Ann recently met up with Wexford’s own Billy Walsh in New York when he was a guest speaker at the Co.Wexford Association New York Branch. She has to be proud of her achievements in a city so far away from home.
TABLE QUIZ
On Thursday, February 9, the Ballymore Mayglass Development Committee are running a table quiz in the Half Way house. It kicks off at 8.30 p.m. with teams of four and entry is €20 per team. There will be a raffle on the night as well.
All proceeds are in aid of the redevelopment of Ballycogley Community Hall. Our last quiz was a great night so why not come along and enjoy the fun.
KILLINICK ICA
Present at the most recent meeting of the local Killinick ICA guild was Mary Quirke (president) plus sixteen other members. Discussed during the meeting was the registration for the selling of daffodils in the local Centra supermarket on daffodil day. The competition winners were first;Cathy Byrne second;Mary Quirke and third Aine Sheeran. The raffle winner was Joan Furlong.
Hostesses on the night were Breda Wright and Kathleen Nolan, Betty Reid and Mary Sinnott will be the hostesses for the next meeting on February 6. The competition for this meeting isfor the most useful small kitchen gadget.
MAYGLASS NS
Mayglass national school is now taking enrolements for September 2017. Enrolement forms can be got by calling Georgina at 053 9133279 or by calling to the school between 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
DRAMA
The Ballycogley Players will present their three-act play ‘Lay Me Down Softly’ by Billy Roche on Wednesday, February 8, in Our Lady’s Island Community Centre and Friday and Saturday, February 17 and 18, in St Michael’s hall, Thomas Street, Wexford, 8 p.m. nightly, admission €10. Looking forward to seeing you all there for our pre-festival performances and supporting us before we commence our 2017 drama circuit journey.

SENIOR FOOTBALL
Congratulations to the two St Fintan’s men Joey Wadding and Jim Rossitter, who were members of the Wexford senior football team that was narrowly beaten by all-Ireland Champions Dublin in a Bord Na Mona O’Byrne cup group one game played in St Patrick’s park during the recent past. Joey was captain on the day at centre back and contributed a goal to Wexfords tally while Jim came on as a substitute during the second half, and both men gave solid displays and we look forward to them playing leading roles with their club St Fintan’s in its quest to win aCounty title during this season.
NATIONAL CLUB DRAW
The GAA National Club Draw 2017 tickets are now available from all St Fintan’s players and commitee members, Tickets are €10 each and there are some terrific prizes on offer including a new car, €1,500 holiday voucher, €1,000 shopping vouchers, all-Ireland Final packages and many more. All money from the tickets remain with the club. As ever your support is very much appreciated.
GAA CLUB MEMBERSHIP
St Fintan’s club membership is now payable with non-playing membership set at €30. This year’s sees the launch of a new GAA Membership Card and rewards programme.
On payment of membership you will be given a unique membership number to register online. From the end of January, those who have registered will be able to earn points for going to games and engaging in GAA activities. Members will be able to redeem points for ticket vouchers and other offers. Registered Members will receive their own official GAA Membership Card personalised with their name, club and GAA membership number after they have signed up to the system online.
Memberships can be paid to club secretary Sharon Pettit with a membership night to be held in February, date to be confirmed and communicated asap. Only members paid up by March 31 deadline will have entitlement to a members vote at AGM or any other significant club meeting.

VINTAGE PLOUGHING
Bannow Rathangan Vintage Ploughing Club held their 12th annual Vintage Ploughing match on Sunday, December 30, 2016, on lands kindly given by the Cullen family. Weather was very good and 25 men and one woman ploughed the stubble ground, with a lot of spectators viewing the plots. Results were announced and prizes presented after the meal.The raffle was well supported and thanks to the ticket sellers. All proceeds from the day are being presented to Wexford Hospice Homecare a very worthy organisation.
The club and Hospice would like to sincerely thank all who contributed to this worthy cause including all our generous sponsors. A special Thanks to all those who helped make the event a success, especially the ladies for providing the stew, sandwiches and tea. Go raibh maith agaibh go leir.
