Dale seeks sport star accolade
DALE WHITE finished 2016 as he started, in winning form. The 19-year-old stepped up into the Senior ranks of elite kickboxing last year after winning just about everything in the Juniors worldwide.
Having proved himself throughout the year, winning two silver medals and a bronze at the W.K.C. world championships, he then travelled as part of Kickboxing Ireland’s Senior team to the W.A.K.O. European championships in Greece to compete in the Chinese Senior forms section.
Dale, in his first-ever Senior W.A.K.O. forms event, put on an outstanding performance to bring home a well-deserved bronze medal from this highly-competitive section.
His fantastic achievements throughout earned him many accolades, including Kickboxing Ireland’s prestigious outstanding achievement award for 2016.
Dale also received the Beat FM sports star award for April and is now one of twelve nominees for the overall award which is being held next week in Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow, Co. Carlow.
‘Dale’s list of achievements are exceptional under any circumstances, but against the backdrop completing his Leaving Cert., starting college and keeping a part-time job to help fund his travel costs, it makes these accomplishments even more extraordinary,’ his coach, Bobby O’Neill, said.
‘Everyone in the Wexford Kung Fu and Kickboxing Centre will be rooting for Dale and hoping that the votes will roll in for this dedicated young athlete.’
The Wexford Kung Fu and Kickboxing Centre train five nights a week at Image Health Studios, and beginners of all ages are always welcome.
