Bridge shock Ballindagg­in

Bridge Rovers 2, Ballindagg­in 1: Division 3 side Bridge Rovers caused an upset in the cup when they knocked out Premier leaders Ballindagg­in 2-1.

In a very close game, Rovers defended well against a hard-working Ballindagg­in side, with Niamh Doyle on target for the visitors while Olivia Morris and Mia Denton scored the all-important goals for Rovers.

St. Cormac’s 5, Seaview United 0: Holders Seaview bowed out when they made the long journey to Boolavogue and were beaten 5-0 by a well-organised home side.

Emerson Doran scored a hat-trick with Katelyn Redmond adding two to put St. Cormac’s through to the quarter-finals.

Adamstown 0, New Ross Town 7: Ella Nolan was on fire in this game as she knocked in six of New Ross Town’s tally as they accounted for Adamstown on a 7-0 scoreline, and they have installed themselves as one of the favourites for this cup.

Emma Rossiter scored Town’s other goal.

Aughrim Rangers 2, Bunclody AFC 2 (AET, Bunclody won 3-2 on penalties): The most exciting cup tie of the day saw these two good footballin­g sides go all the way to penalties before Bunclody eventually booked their place in the last eight.

Ciara Connolly and Abigail Whitney were on target for Rangers while Rebecca O’Connor and Carrie Fitzgerald scored for Bunclody.

Extra-time saw no further goals and the game went to penalties where the visitors ran out 3-2 winners.

Moyne Rangers 1, Rosslare Rangers 4: Last season’s beaten finalists, Moyne Rangers, bowed out of the competitio­n when they came up against a very clinical Rosslare Rangers side.

Cassie O’Rourke scored Moyne’s goal while Bobbie Culleton with two and Abigail Clarke and Tegan Fortune were on target for Rosslare Rangers.

Corach Ramblers 1, New Ross Celtic 8: New Ross Celtic advanced to the quarter-finals of the cup when they travelled to Corach Ramblers and proved too strong for the home side, running out 8-1 winners.

All Blacks 9, Carnew FC 4: All Blacks ran out comfortabl­e 9-4 winners against an improving Carnew side who just had no answer to Aoibheann Rankin who scored seven for the home side.

Cora Sinnott and Ciara Murphy were also on target for the winners while Emma Kelly scored a hat-trick for Carnew, with Katie Wafer also finding the back of the net.

U-12PremierD­ivision

Kilmore United 5, St. Leonards 6: St. Leonards did not take the lead in this match until two minutes from the end as they eventually overcame Kilmore in this eleven-goal thriller.

Melissa Smith and Kennedy Cullen scored two goals each for the home side while Niamh Fortune also found the net, but a hat-trick from Katie Ryan and one each from Doireann Rossiter, Katie Whelan and Alannah Whitty gave St. Leonards all three points.

Wexford Youths 5, Tombrack United 2: Ana Dargusin scored twice for Tombrack but Wexford Youths came out on top to pull away from the bottom two.

Zoe Kelly and Clara Kearney scored two goals each for the home side while Niamh Walsh also got her name on the scoresheet.

Taghmon United 2, Rosslare Strand 3: Rosslare Strand caused a major upset in the league when overcoming title challenger­s Taghmon 3-2 to record their first win of the season and severely dent the home side’s chances of catching leaders New Ross Town.

Maeve Kenny scored twice to put Strand 2-0 up but goals from Ruth Ryan and Hannah Kehoe brought Taghmon level before Aisling Roche scored the winner for the visitors.

Ballindagg­in 3, Gorey Rangers 0: Ballindagg­in’s second team recorded their first win of the season when they overcame Gorey Rangers’ second team 3-0. Goals from Lauren Smith, Blaithin and Treasa gave the home side victory.

Cushinstow­n 1, Forth Celtic 2: Forth Celtic recorded their second win of the season and pulled away from the bottom two when they overcame Cushinstow­n 2-1 in a very entertaini­ng encounter.

Aoife McDonald scored for the home side while Katie Kehoe scored both goals for Celtic.

Fastnet Rovers 0, Bridge Rovers 1: A very closely-contested tie was decided midway through the first-half when Fastnet’s defence failed to clear the ball and the visitors’ Courtney Goucher was on hand to take advantage.

The home side tried hard to get back on level terms but the Bridge defence held them to bay to hold on for the three points.

New Ross Town 1, Shelburne 1: These sides played out an entertaini­ng 1-1 draw with Aoife O’Leary on target for Town while Mollie Sutton scored the goal for Shelburne.

Wexford Youths 3, Forth Celtic 0: Wexford Youths made it six wins from six games and moved joint top of the table with Aughrim Rangers after this 3-0 win over Forth Celtic.

Sofiat Katun scored two with Jasmine Gore also on target as Youths kept the pressure on for the title.
