Cloughbawn need two wins to secure U-11 crown

-

CLOUGHBAWN CLOSED in on the Wexford and District Schoolboys Under-11 Division 1 title with a strong win away to Forth Celtic last weekend.

Victories in their final two games will secure the title but Gorey Rangers, who weren’t in action last Saturday, might have something to say about that.

Bridge Rovers and North End United remain neck and neck in Division 1A after both picked up valuable victories over Duncannon and Wexford Celtic respectively. Elsewhere, New Ross Celtic secured an impressive away win at Gorey Celtic.

In Division 2, Curracloe remained perfect with victory at Rosslare Rangers. They have a seven-point advantage on St. Cormac’s with six games to go, with Glynn Barntown and Rosslare Strand nestled in behind.

Also perfect are Bunclody in Division 2A after taking the points at home to Camolin Celtic at the weekend. Oylegate kept the pressure on in second with a hard-fought victory over Corach Ramblers.

An exciting 7-5 win for Newpark saw the league leaders in Division 3 maintain a six-point advantage over New Ross Town ‘B’. In Division 4, Rathnure are the team to beat after their 5-0 win against Cushinstown.

The big battle on top of Division 3A ended with Ballagh taking the points against Wexford Bohs. The game finished 3-2, with the hosts notching a late winner that leaves the title within their grasp. They need seven points in their final three games to take the crown.

Wexford Albion’s lead at the top of the Under-13 Division 1 table has been cut to seven points after they were held by Glynn Barntown and Gorey Celtic defeated St. Joseph’s. Contenders All Blacks, Wexford Celtic and Gorey Rangers were not in league action.

With three games each now remaining, Fethard Rangers and Shamrock Rovers are deadlocked with perfect records at the top of Division 1A. They still have to play each other twice so the run-in promises to be fascinating.

Following a draw with second-placed Moyne Rangers, New Ross Town now need just four points from their final three games to take the Division 2 title. Meanwhile, Shelburne moved four points clear in Division 2A following their victory against Fastnet.

Corach Rambers’ league hopes took a dent in Division 3 after they fell at home to Bree United.

In Division 3A. Wexford Celtic B now hold a three-point lead over Shamrock Rovers B after their big win against Gorey Celtic C.

Forth Celtic have been joined at the summit of the Under-15 Division 1 table by North End and Gorey Rangers after both won last weekend.

Division 1A is a straight fight between leaders Ballymurn and Bridge Rovers with a couple of weeks remaining.

With three games left, New Ross Celtic are just one win away from the Division 2 title after they beat Wexford Celtic 8-4 in Drinagh. Enniscorthy Town edged Rathnure in Division 2A to move ahead of inactive Cloughbawn.

Finally, there were just two goals scored in Division 3 and one of those was for Kilmore as they moved six points ahead. Gorey Rangers B scored the other one and they leaped into joint second with a game in hand on the table-toppers.
