Waters expands at Drinagh site
Waters Corporation officially opened a new site expansion at their state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly facilities at Drinagh in Wexford last Friday, the manufacturing centre of excellence described as being instrumental in the company’s global strategy.
‘We strive to consistently develop reliable products that not only meet our customer’s needs, but also contribute to their success,’ said Christopher J. O’Connell, President and CEO, Waters Corporation.
Mr O’Connell said the expansion will allow for significant increases in operations, services and development functions on site. This year marks Waters’ 20th anniversary in Wexford. Since commencing operations in 1997, the company has seen continuous and sustained growth. There are over 300 people employed in the 145,000 square foot facility that manufactures chromatography columns, solid-phase extraction devices and mass spectrometry instruments.
Liam Hore, Senior Director of Wexford Operations, praised the role of his team at Drinagh. ‘This latest expansion has been facilitated by the excellent and dedicated workforce of the Waters Technologies Ireland Ltd team and positions Wexford Operations to support the strategic growth objectives of Waters Corporation,’ he said. Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland, said that Waters’ sustained commitment to investment in manufacturing and job creation in Wexford is hugely significant.
‘The Wexford operation is a strategically important component of Waters Corporation’s global footprint. I would like to offer the continued support of IDA Ireland to the company,’ he said.
