AIB shows off its self-service lobby

- By

TO celebrate the launch of its recently-refurbished branch and new self-service lobby, AIB in North Main Street, Wexford, invited local government officials and business people to a recent evening of networking.

Guests at the Wexford Chamber Business After Hours networking evening, included the Mayor Cllr Frank Staples and Tony Larkin, Director of Services, Wexford County Council.

Karl Fitzpatrick, the President of Wexford Chamber, said that in the not-too-distant past, business owners were hesitant about engaging with their bank as there was a sentiment that the banks were not lending.

‘But with the number of people here tonight to support this event, there is no doubt that that sentiment has disappeared,’ he said.

‘ The refurbishment, which up to now would only be seen in major AIB branches and cities across the country, really is an illustration of the confidence that AIB has in Wexford and its business community,’ said Mr Fitzpatrick.

Cllr Staples said the ‘state-of-the-art branch shows that AIB Wexford are putting its customer first and also answering demands on the bank for a facility that works best for them’.

AIB Wexford said it has transformed its business over the past number of years to be more focussed on customer needs, with flexible hours, the latest in branch technologies, and significant improvements in mobile and online banking.

Employing 30 people, AIB Wexford was one of the branches to be chosen for this level of upgrade, thanks to the support of the people of Wexford and its environs.

‘We are delighted with the results of our branch refurbishment,’ said Jim O’Shea, Branch Manager AIB.

‘ The new design provides increased customer space in a relaxed atmosphere which is more conducive to doing business

The refurbishment includes a new self-service lobby which is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week to complement existing branch opening hours.

‘ This almost trebles the number of hours that customers can access bank services,’ said Mr O’Shea.

Madeleine Quirke, CEO, Wexford Chamber said it was imperative that businesses continuously evolve their product offering and remain fresh and appealing to customers.

‘Wexford Chamber congratulates AIB Wexford on its recent investment and wishes the staff and management team every success for the future,’ she said.
