Brosnan transfer bid to be considered Tuesday

BRENDAN FURLONG WITH NEWS FROM THE COUNTY BOARD

-

BEN BROSNAN’S bid for a transfer from Bannow-Ballymitty to Castletown will go before the relevant County Board sub-committee on Tuesday, February 14.

While the move has already been presented as a fait accompli in some quarters, the inter-county footballer will have to prove he is residing in the north county’s catchment area before getting the green light.

However, it has been confirmed that former Donegal under-age defender Peter Devine has secured an inter-county transfer from his native St. Eunan’s (Letterkenny) to Castletown. He has been training with the Wexford Senior footballers since before Christmas and will be a big addition to the squad under new manager Colm Morris.

Meanwhile, the meeting to consider transfers on February 14 will officially rubber-stamp the new arrangements whereby Ballyfad hurlers will now play with Tara Rocks, and footballers from the latter will now line out with Kilanerin.

A total of 28 transfers are submitted from Kilanerin to Tara Rocks for hurling purposes, among them recent county Under-21 and Senior player Conor Devitt.

And then, 31 Tara Rocks footballers will be moving in the opposite direction to make themselves officially eligible to feature with Kilanerin.

Elsewhere the Wexford town merry-go-round continues, with St. Joseph’s set to be the big beneficiaries. As well as seeking nine players from Clonard, they are also likely to acquire the services of the Murphy brothers, Jason and Paul, as well as goalkeeper Adam Doyle from Sarsfields, all of whom have played Senior championship football within the past two years.

Jesse Foley is looking for a move back to his native Fethard to see out a long playing career, having lined out with Castletown for several seasons.
