GAA TRIPLE CROWN

Ballyhogue GAA Club is running the Triple Crown this year which will run throughout the month of February. ‘Congratula­tions to Micheál Bennett from Marshalsto­wn, who won the 10km run and to Lucy Kehoe, who won the 5km run in the first event of the triple crown last Sunday. Thanks to stewards and participan­ts for supporting the run event. The next event is the 20km and 45km cycle which takes place on Sunday, February 12, @midday from Bree. Entry fee is €10. The final event is the bog run which takes place on Sunday, February 19, @midday

BREE AC NEWS

Best of luck to Oscar Redmond, Bill Quigley and Rory Goff on the Wexford County Team in the National B Cross Country Finals in Waterford IT on Sunday next, February 12. Best of luck also to the 11 Bree AC athletes taking part in the Leinster Indoor Championsh­ips in Athlone on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Best wishes to the under-13 and under-16 Chess Teams in the Co Final on Thursday, February 9. Due to the interest in quiz and art local trials will be held in each event.

Under-14 Quiz Trials will take place in Bree Hall on Tuesday the 14th at 8.30 p.m. and U8-16 Art Trials will take place in Bree Hall from 10 a.m. to midday on Saturday, February 18.

Anyone interested in 400m or 600m Relays under-12 and under-14 or 7km Marathon under-16 should contact Clare Doyle at 087 4151350 before Friday, next February 10. All participan­ts must be under an age on August 1, eg under-eight may not have reached their eighth birthday before that date. SCHOOL ENROLMENT

SN Seosamh Naofa, Bree are now accepting enrolments for September 2017. Enrolment packs can be collected at the school office or you can call the office (053 247725) for a pack to be posted out. Please return the completede­nrolment forms by March 1. Bree Penny/Euro Bank Bree Penny Bank has now re-opened for 2017 for saving deposits. Deposit envelopes are available from Bree Post Office and Byrnes Shop. The penny bank is open to all members of the community and any amount can be lodged each week. This is an ideal way to save towards Christmas.

BREE YOUTH CLUB

Envelopes for Bree Youth Club’s split-the-pot fundraiser are available in local shops and at Youth Club each Friday night. Draw takes place on the first Saturday of each month. Please support this venture as all funds raised will go back into the youth club. Remember. If you’re not in, you can’t win.

WEXFORD ACADEMY

‘Lock and Key Night’ in Byrne’s of Bree on Saturday, February 18, at 9.30 p.m. Admission is €5 with music by ‘Wrecking Ball’. An enjoyable way to spend Valentine’s weekend. ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The next Active Retirement Social Afternoon will be held on Wednesday afternoon, February 15. A committee meeting will be held at 1.30 p.m. followed by the social at 2 p.m. The membership fee for the year is €10 and this will be due at the meeting/ social on the 15th. The County League Bowls Competitio­n is in full swing at the moment with bowling practice continuing every other Wednesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thinking of joining, all are most welcome. COFFEE MORNING

A very special coffee morning is being organised by some parents in aid of St Patrick’s Special School in Enniscorth­y, on Tuesday, March 21, in the Presentati­on Centre, Enniscorth­y from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. There will be plenty of delicious treats, cakes, coffee/tea for all and also a raffle which will be drawn on the day with tickets available to purchase in advance.

All the funds raised will go towards supporting the amazing work being done in the school by all members of staff and the great love, care and attention each student receives. LADIES GAA

Clonard Volunteers Ladies under-10 and under-12 girls training continues on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with under-14 and under-16 girls training from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Presentati­on Sports hall. Under-8 training will commence at a later date. Senior, Junior B and minor training will take place at the Faythe Harriers training arena this Friday, February 3, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Anyone interested in playing adult football with Clonard Volunteers please drop out to our training sessions to meet our team and coaches. New members are always needed and welcome at Clonard Volunteers, we especially encourage younger girls to come along and try out our fun training sessions in the Pres Hall.

We will be holding a Clothes Collection Fundraiser on Saturday March 4 - anyone who would like to donate old clothes, shoes etc please let us know.
