We will be acknowledging his departure in mid-February with a school mass on Wednesday, February 22, at 10 a.m. All parents, community members and friends of our school are welcome to come along where there will be a presentation to him. We will miss Fr Browne and we thank him for all the many ways he has contributed to our school, parish and community for the past four and a half years.

FAREWELL EVENING

It is with great regret that we learned of the appointment of Fr Dennis as parish priest to Kilanerin-Ballyfad, we are so sorry to be losing him from Ballymitty, so we will be having a farewell evening in Ballymitty Hall on Saturday night, February 25, after 7.30 p.m. mass. We extend an open invitation to everyone in the parish to join us in saying cheerio to him and wishing him the very best in his new ministry, so come and join us for some light refreshments from about 8.15 p.m. onwards on Saturday, February 25.

CORACH RAMBLERS

The winner of this week’s split-the-pot draw worth €742 is Dominic Jones, congratulations Dominic. The draw took place in Doyle’s, Carrig-on-Bannow; we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your continued support.

A-team were at home to Wexford Bohs B today in the second round of the Wexford cup and ran out 5-2 winners. In tough conditions we took the lead on nine minutes when following some good play from Barry and Gareth, MJ took on his man down the line and pulled the ball back to Niall, who buried it past the keeper. Four minutes later it was 1-1 when following a defensive error Bohs got the equaliser.

Two minutes later we took the lead again when Niall swung in a corner and Mick shot to the back of the net. We were moving the ball well now on a surface that was gradually cutting up with the persistent rain and extended our lead on 23 minutes when we won a corner which was swung in by Niall and following a bit of a scramble it was buried to the bottom corner by Philly. Ten minutes later bohs pulled one back when we were slow to clear our lines, 3-2 at half time.

We came out with more intensity in the second half but it was becoming increasingly hard to play on a pitch that was now cutting up bad due to the persistent rain but with 10 minutes left we made it safe when Gareth crossed and Mj slotted home at the back post. One minute later it was five when Mj broke through and chipped the keeper. It wasn’t our best performance but we did enough in tough conditions.

Our under-15 team lost out to Bridge Rovers today on a score line of 5-3. Bridge opened the scoring but we levelled from a Josh White header after an excellent Lorcan Breen delivery from a corner. We were 2-1 up not long after when Cathal Cummins was brought down in the box, a penalty which the influential Josh White tucked away. Sloppy defending let Bridge in again to level and then take the lead, but Robbie Rochford made it 3-3 with a stunning free kick right before half time. The boys never got going in the second half and Bridge added two more to make sure of the win. Too many goals shipped, the story of the season. Josh White and Lorcan Breen with outstanding performances.
