Many pay tribute as local community ‘rocked to core’
TRIBUTES have flooded in for the late David Motcha Walsh who was allegedly murdered in Australia.
29-year-old David from Moran Park was a devoted father of three with his daughters being described as ‘ his entire life’.
Jackser Owens, Chairman of Enniscorthy United, paid tribute to David.
‘He played with us for a number of years. He was a very nice chap, a good footballer. I’d like to extend sympathy to the Walsh family on their very tragic loss. David was a good club member, He was always very jolly and was very good at keeping the team spirit going in the dressing room. He was always ready with a laugh and a smile.
‘He was a very hard worker and comes from a very hard working and respectable family. The Walsh’s have always been great neighbours.’
A moment of silence in honour of David was observed before Sunday’s match between Enniscorthy United and St Leonard’s.
The Moran Park, Bellefield and St Aidan’s Community Watch group also paid tribute to David saying that news of his death rocked the entire town.

Principal of Enniscorthy Vocational College Dr Iain Wickham extended sympathy to David’s family and friends at this difficult time.
‘As a past pupil of Enniscorthy Vocational College it was with great sadness that the school community heard of David’s unexpected passing. On behalf of the school I’d like to offer our condolences to all his family and friends at this difficult time.’
On social media there were also many tributes paid to David.

‘At half time he said to me you’re playing great Larry but this half we’ll be swapping sides. I heard him asking the guy did he think he was a hard man picking on that smaller chap. Next I see a mass fight kicks off. He was sent off, He walked past me saying now Larry get stuck in there I got that f **ker for ya, always loyal and good to everyone one the team. I never got to thank him for it. A good lad he was, no doubt about it.’
