Hard working John was a real gentleman

OBITUARY

-

JOHN Kehoe of Fishers Row, Wexford sadly passed away on February 9 surrounded by his loving family at Wygram Nursing Home.

He would have been 90 years old this year.

John was reared in Bride Place, a son of Tom and Ellen Kehoe and brother to Larry and the late Martin.

He met the love of his life Eileen (nee Cullen) and they married in 1954 and went on to have five sons, Tom, Robbie, Eamon, Sean and the late Fergie.

John was a very private and quiet man and would be best described as a ‘gentleman’ by everyone who knew him.

A hard working man, he started his working career in Haddens and also worked in Pierces, The Star, Fine Wool Fabrics and finally in Jackmans Engineering before retiring.

John had a great passion for music and spent decades as a member of Wexford Male Voice Choir.

His other great passion was politics and he was deeply involved behind the scenes in Fianna Fail, being a founder member of Wexford Cumann.

He was very proud to see his son Fergie co-opted onto Wexford Corporation and even prouder still when he was elected to Wexford County Council.

John was a great family man who was proud of all his sons and he especially took great joy from the visits of his grandchildren.

He spent the last two years of his life in Wygram Nursing Home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the loving care John received from all the staff as he felt it was home away from home and he often said how happy he was there.

John is survived by his loving sons, his brother, daughters in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren and by his extended family and friends.

He was laid to rest in the family grave in Crosstown Cemetery alongside his wife Eileen, following funeral Mass in Bride Street Church.
