New hurling leagues

-

WEXFORD CLUBS have warmly embraced the thinking behind the new Leinster Under-13 and Under-15 hurling leagues which got under way over the weekend. Indeed, the county is very well represented in both competitions, with all players set to get lots of action under their belts to kick-start the year.

The fact that they will be coming up against clubs from other counties will heighten the interest, not to mention the novelty value.

Oulart-The Ballagh and Faythe Harriers are in the same Under-13 group, along with Mount Leinster Rangers from Carlow.

Shelmaliers will face Kilcormac-Killoughey (Offaly), Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) and Clonkill (Westmeath), while Glynn-Barntown will be up against CRC Gaels (Offaly), Naas (Kildare) and Emeralds (Kilkenny).

Gusserane’s opponents are Myshall (Carlow), Carlow Town Hurling Club and Kilmacow (Kilkenny), while Fethard will meet Setanta (Dublin) and St. Patrick’s (Wicklow).

Moving to Under-15, Faythe Harriers will once again face Mount Leinster Rangers as well as Carnew Emmets (Wicklow) and The Harps Gaels (Laois).

Oulart-The Ballagh will take on Ballinkillen (Carlow) and Rathdowney-Errill (Laois), with Glynn-Barntown set to meet Naomh Eoin (Carlow) and Naas (Kildare).

Finally, Craanford are in a group with Michael Dwyer’s (Wicklow), Trim (Meath) and St. Columba’s (Kildare).
