Rose gets her rewards

ROSE BREEN of Monageer-Boolavogue has received the Wexford camogie ‘volunteer of the year’ award for being a great ambassador for club and county over 30 years.

Rose was nominated for her outstanding contribution to the club and to many other associations.

‘Rose continues to be an active member of our camogie committee and a key contributor in our club running and development. Rose was Treasurer of the G.A.A. club for a number of years, including over the time that the club successfully applied for and was granted lotto funding to purchase and develop the third playing pitch and new clubhouse,’ her citation stated.

‘Each club in every county in Ireland is asked to fill out a nomination form and our overall winner for Wexford was Rose Breen.

‘She was then treated, along with the other winners, to a lunch ceremony in Croke Park to receive her award,’ said Donnacha Kerins, Co. Chairman.

In 2016, Rose served on Monageer-Boolavogue camogie and G.A.A. committees, Wexford Supporters’ Club committee and Wexford camogie finance committee, as well as being Chairperson of the Monageer parish and hall committee.

Rose has been a leading light in the club fundraising activities and motivates others to play their part - club members and non-club members alike.

Rose is a regular at camogie matches and is often seen collecting on gates around the county.

Donnacha added: ‘Rose is a great communicator, excellent team member and successful in generating funding for various ventures.

‘She is a fantastic asset and we are delighted to have her’.
