WEXFORD FOOTBALL LEAGUE Maddock’s the match winner for Crossabeg WEXFORD CUP

CONOR MADDOCK was the match -winner for Crossabeg as they edged out Division 1 leaders Ferns United 1-0 after extra-time in the second round of the Wexford Volkswagen Cup on Sunday.

Crossabeg ply their trade in Division 2, but they were more than a match for their opponents with Maddock grabbing the only goal of the game.

Premier Division pacesetter­s Gorey Rangers had an easy passage to the third round as they overwhelme­d Corach Ramblers ‘B’ 8-0.

Adam Territt-King contribute­d a hattrick, Joe Bolger added a double, and Eoin Kinsella, Mark Woods and Paul Carton netted a goal apiece.

Youth players Kyle Roche, Chris Cowman and Aaron Donovan all got on the scoresheet for Curracloe United, with Mark O’Connor grabbing their other goal in a 4-0 triumph over Stoney Rovers.

Paddy Doyle and Jamie Furlong hit the back of the net for Curracloe’s ‘B’ team but Crossabeg ‘B’ came out on top 3-2 with goals from John Donovan, Niall Kelly and Vinnie Sullivan.

Boolavogue eked out a 2-1 win away to The Ballagh with goals from Higor Garcez and Fionn Doyle, while Des Mythen and Paul Nangle both netted hat-tricks for St. Joseph’s, with Seán Furlong scoring their other goal in a 7-0 drubbing of Shamrock Rovers ‘C’.

All Blacks had too much firepower for Campile United ‘B’, winning 4-0 with goals from Mark Doyle (two), Peter Goldsmith and Shane Sinnott, while a Stephen O’Leary hat-trick helped New Ross Town to a 6-0 victory over Wexford Celtic ‘B’, with Gary Sinnott, Liam Walsh and Jason Murphy also getting in on the act.
