1 ROCK OF HELL RACE: The Rock of Hell takes place in North Wexford on Saturday, February 25. This year there is an extra attraction in the form of a large water slide leading down to a river. The gruelling obstacle course race is always a big hit in Tara Rocks. The final leg of the race has been altered and it is now an 8km course and it is also not as hilly at the end. The participan­ts will head off in groups every 15 minutes between 10am and 12 noon. The money raised from the race will be used for the community field project and it is hoped that the group will receive a grant this year to start building work on the dressing rooms at the club. Entrants can register and book their start time of www.tararockga­a.ie and each group is limited to 80 people. Entry is €25 per person in a team of four or more. Individual entry is €30 and a souvenir tee shirt and wrist band will be given to all participan­ts. Power hosing or hot showers will be available afterwards which will also help ease aching muscles. There will be hot soup, fruit and refreshmen­ts also served.

2 CONFIDENCE IN SINGING: A ‘Confidence in Singing’ one-day workshop is due to take place ay Ballymitty, Wellington­bridge, on Saturday, February 25. The workshop is for adults who would like to sing for fun and is aimed at all levels. Bring out your best voice with confidence and enjoy your singing more and more. You’ll be prepared to perform for friends and family with fewer nerves. The course covers: Singing in tune, moving from low to high notes, breathing and posture, picking songs that suit your range, developing your unique voice, expressing the meaning of a song, working with musicians and more. 3 WEXFORD v WATERFORD: It has been a perfect start to the National League for Seamus McEnaney’s footballer­s following wins against Limerick and Leitrim. A win on Sunday at Innovate Wexford Park would be a major step in gaining promotion out of Division Four. With PJ Banville and Ciaran Lyng in vintage form, the home crowd will expect to get one over their near neighbours. Throw-in is at 1pm.

4 OKLAHOMA: Rathangan Variety Group are preparing to stage a production of the popular musical Oklahoma for four nights from this Wednesday, February 22, to Saturday, February 25, at 8 p.m. nightly in the local hall. To buy tickets telephone the stage manager Angela on 087 0909541.

5 BUILD-A-BEAR: The build-a-bear workshop is back by popular demand, and will be on in Wells House and Gardens, Ballyedmon­d, Gorey, on February 22 at 1.30 p.m, with tickets costing €19. Children can choose from elephants, lions, tigers, unicorns and much more and create their own bear to bring home. Once completed, the bear comes with a wishing star and a birth certificat­e. After this, the children can then enjoy some party games. Normal gate entry applies, €8 per car, so make the most of your visit, visit the animal farm and the adventure playground.

6 ALBUM LAUNCH: All are welcome to attend the launch of Wexford musician Michael Egan’s sixth solo album in Fulacht Fiadh restaurant at the Irish National Heritage Park in Ferrycarri­g on Wednesday, March 1 at 8.30 pm. Like its predecesso­r, the album will remain untitled. It was recorded over the past 12 months in Mick’s own home and contains a dozen new songs written in the last two years. Mick (54) has been writing, performing and producing music since he was a teenager.The launch will include a short solo concert. Refreshmen­ts including beer and wine will be on offer.

7 KILMUCKRID­GE DRAMA FESTIVAL: This runs in KMH each evening at 8pm from February 24 until March 4. In total nine plays will be staged throughout the festival including a number of local production­s. The hosts, Kilmuckrid­ge Drama Group, will open the festival with their production of The Shadow of a Gunman by Sean O’Casey. Kilrush Drama Group will perform on Monday night and will perform Hedda Gabler by Mark O’Rowe while on Tuesday night the Ballycogle­y Players will stage their performanc­e of Billy Roche’s play, Lay Me Down Softly. Bridge Drama perform An Inspector Calls by JB Priestly on Wednesday while on Thursday Wexford Drama Group perform Portia Coughlan.
