CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

The parents’ associatio­n of St Margaret’s national school, Curracloe, with the help of parents Jessie and Esther O’Connor have very kindly organised a Curracloe 5K Fun Run/Walk for Sunday next, February 26, starting from the school at midday. Registrati­on at the school from 10.30 a.m. Donations will be accepted on the day. Refreshmen­ts afterwards at the school. All funds raised go to the school. Why not go along and join in this fun event.

There will be an open evening in the school on Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m. Refreshmen­ts will be provided and there will be an opportunit­y to view all classrooms and facilities including the new sensory room. Fifth and sixth class pupils will be presenting their entries for ‘The Junior Entreprene­ur 2017’. Mrs Torpey’s music group will provide entertainm­ent. This event is open to everyone including current and prospectiv­e parents.

Do you have unwanted traditiona­l musical instrument­s? If you have and would be willing to donate same to the school’s music group, then please contact the school secretary at 053 9137283. Noleen Hearne won €208 in the recent split-the-pot draw.

Enrolment for September 2017 at St..Margaret’s national school, Curracloe is now open. If you wish to enrol your child, please pick up a registrati­on form from the school office or download the form from the website and return the completed form to the school as soon as possible.

OPERATION OVER THE WATER

With week five completed in Hollymount, everyone is doing so well, so keep up the great work guys. A big thank you to Seamie Harding, who put everyone through their paces on Tuesday evening along with Darren and Martina, Fit-Nutz leading the group for the outdoor session. It is fantastic to see so many coming together, becoming more active, improving their health and well-being, and being part of a group supporting each other, with lots of fun too. Congratula­tions to raffle winner Ann Quinn.

Sign in this evening, Tuesday, February 21, is at 7.30 p.m. with the session/class starting at 8 p.m. Each week continues with a Friday walk/jog/run from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at the Raven, Curracloe at 10 a.m. Reserve Sunday, March 12, as it is the last date for the event and will finish up with a 6k run/jog/walk. GAA CLUB NEWS

The Shelmalier GAA Club wishes to congratula­te Simon Donohoe on an outstandin­g performanc­e with the Wexford senior hurlers on Sunday last, where a fantastic display by the entire team saw them account for Galway on a score line 1-21 to 3-13.

The club is holding their registrati­on night for the Shelamlier senior club, Shelmalier­s St Ibar’s camogie club and Shelmalier Coiste na N’og on Monday night, February 27, in Hollymount from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. You are encouraged to register promptly for the coming year.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

A reminder that the annual general meeting of Curracloe Tidy Village committee will take place tonight, Tuesday, February 21, at 8 p.m. in Hotel Curracloe. All are most welcome.

TABLE QUIZ

Castlebrid­ge Handball Club will hold a table quiz in the Porter House, Castlebrid­ge, on Tuesday, February 28, at 8.30 p.m. €20 for a team of four persons. There will be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. The funds raised will go to help replace the roof of the Alley. FUNDRAISER

A 5K walk with prayers for Darren Corrigan will take place on Curracloe beach at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. A raffle and barbecue will be held afterwards at Freddies bar in Screen. All proceeds in aid of Wexford General hospital. Sponsorshi­p cards available from Pat Ennis at Freddies bar.

CAMOGIE TRAINING

St Ibar’s/Shelmalier camogie Underage training began yesterday, Monday, February 20, for the under-eights (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and under-10s from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Training this Wednesday, February 22, from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. for the under-12s.
