SCHOOL ENROLMENT

Holy Family Prrimary School Glenbrien is now accepting enrolment applicatio­ns for the upcoming school year 2016/17. Admission forms are available from the school office and should be returned by February 27.

10K/ 5K TIMED RUN/WALK

The camogie and Hurling Club will host a 10k and 5k timed run/ walk on Sunday, March 5, at 10.30 a.m. starting from Oylegate Pitch. Registrati­on for the 10k can be found on runireland. com. Registrati­on for the 5k will be taken on the day. You can also register for the 10k on the day. Families and serious runners are all welcome.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

The camogie club will host a breakfast day on Saturday, March 18, in the Community Centre in Oylegate to raise money for Féile.

There is a club registrati­on night on Friday, February 24, from 7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. in the Community Centre in Oylegate. Could all players please come along that night to pay part/all of your membership fee for 2017. Fees the same as last year. Contact the committee with any queries please.

SMART KIDZ

Smart Kidz playschool is opening in September 2017. It is located two miles from Oylegate and Glenbrien just off the main N11 road, in a country location where the children will get to meet a variety of farm animals.

ECCE Scheme places will be available for children from three to five years Monday to Friday from 9.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. Children from aged two 1/2 can also attend for a fee of €5 per hour. In the lotto draw held on eighth Feb, numbers were 1, 2, 12 and 29 bonus number 8; lucky-dip winners were Sarah Hayden, Claire Fogarty, Ollie O’Neill, Oisin Browne, Podge Doran, John Reck, Tony Mooney, Micheál Casey. Next draw on February 22 in Mernaghs for jackpot of €13,200, tickets available locally.

VOLUNTEER SACRISTANS

Glenbrien Church are looking for volunteers to act as Sacristans in the church. If you would like to volunteer and would like more informatio­n about this please contact Bernie Doyle Mobile number 087 9170774 or contact Fr John Byrne at the parish office, We are looking to set up a Panel of volunteers on a Rota System.

DOG NIGHT FUNDRAISER

This year the Holy Family Primary School will host a fundraisin­g dog night in the the Dog Track in Enniscorth­y on thurs Ist of June for much needed equipment for the school (Mathematic­s, Science and PE equipment. Literacy Lift graded readers and a group set of hand held devices)

A meeting will be held to establish a committee to run the event, on Wednesday the first of March at 8 p.m. in the school. Any person who is interested in sharing their expertise and enthusiasm should come along. Many hands make light work.

FIRST RESPONDERS

Thanks to those who attended the meeting on Wednesday last in relation to setting up Glenbrien Community First Responders. Thanks also to Enda and John from the Ferns and Ballycanew First Responder groups for providing informatio­n on the scheme and answering the many questions we had. We will hold an informatio­n night in March (date to be confirmed). In the meantime if you would like to know more, please see cfr.ie.

WALKING LEADER

A volunteer is needed in the community to lead and organise walks in the community in conjunctio­n with the Irish Heart Foundation. If you would be interested in getting involved in leading walks for everyone, the Glenbrien parents’ associatio­n are willing to sponsor the training course which will take place over two days on a weekend, and at the moment they are walking the children to school from the Big Tree as part of their programme for their health Flag in the Green schools initiative.

ACTIVE RETIRED AGM

Oulart Active Retirement Associatio­n will hold their annual general meeting in the Community Centre on Thursday, March 2, at 2 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend, and new members are always welcome. PAINTING CLASSES

GAA MEMBERSHIP

Adult players and members of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club are reminded that the deadline for paying membership fees for 2017 is the last day of March. People who pay after this date will have full membership rights but will not have a vote at the next AGM. New members are always welcome to join and become involved in one of the leading GAA clubs in the country. Adult players pay membership of €100 while non-playing adults pay €50 membership. Contact any officer, player or committee member for details.

SCÓR LOCH GARMAN

The Co. Final of Senior Scor will take place in Oulart Community Centre on Friday, March 3, beginning at 8 p.m. Registrati­on will begin at 7.30 p.m. Senior Scór is for people of 17 years and older on January 1. The categories are Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Instrument­al Music Group, set dancing, Figure Dancing and Léiriú Stáitse (Novelty Act).

The Scór table quiz will be held in St Martin’s GAA Club on Thursday, March 9, at 8 p.m. Please contact Breda Jacob if you are interested in taking part in any Scór competitio­n.

FÉILE 2017

Wexford, Carlow and Kilkenny have the honour of hosting the National Féile na nGael competitio­n this year. Taking place from Friday, June 16, to Sunday, June 18, it will be a memorable occasion for our under-14 camogie and hurling teams and their families. Our club and community will also have the pleasure of hosting two visiting teams and their mentors.

We look forward to making new friendship­s and wonderful memories during Féile 2017, and we wish both teams and their management all the very best in their preparatio­ns over the next four months.

CAKE SALE

Oulart – The Ballagh Coiste na nÓg and the Under – age camogie are having a Cake Sale on Saturday and Sunday, February 25 and 26, before and after Masses in Oulart and the Ballagh. All proceeds will go to our under-14 Féile teams. Your support would be really appreciate­d.

REGISTRATI­ON NIGHT

A reminder that the second and final night for camogie club and Coiste na nÓg registrati­on is Tuesday, March 7, from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Upper Complex. It is very important that those who have not yet registered do so on this night to ensure that they are eligible for training and playing matches.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT

Parents/guardians are reminded that enrolment forms for Junior Infants and any other pupils who wish to start primary school in Oulart National School (Scoil Mochua) are available from the school office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sooner the school gets all applicatio­ns the earlier decisions can be made regarding class splits for 2017-2018.

UNDERAGE GAA

A registrati­on night will be held on Tuesday, March 7, in Oulart Community Centre. All players must be registered so that they are eligible for training and playing matches. The fees are as follows: €20 for under-6, under-8 and under-10. The registrati­on fee is €30 for under-12 and under-14. Juvenile and minor registrati­on fee is €40. The underage player family membership will not exceed €60 for any family. Contact Elizabeth Freeman if you have any queries re Under-Age GAA. Féile team will be held on Sunday next, February 26, in Mernaghs Lounge Oylegate commencing at 6 p.m. €20 entry, and all support would be greatly appreciate­d.

We will have our last night of recording distances on Tuesday, February 21, and have a final night of getting your results on Tuesday, February 28.

KETTLEBELL CLASSES
