Some of the ladies enjoyed a very interesting DIY class which took place on January 21 in Dennis’ Workshop (Camross). A massive thank you to Dennis for a most enjoyable afternoon and to Breda for the delicious refreshments. Dympna congratulated Marian Donnelly for her recent success in the ‘creative writing’ competition and Mary Kelly for her entry in the Jem Pack competition. The ladies enjoyed a most interesting talk by Olga from the Beechdale Garden Centre, Enniscorthy (beechdale.ie). Olga told us about the activities at the garden centre as well as some great gardening tips. Here are a few I learnt: Apple and pear trees and black/red currants bushes should be pruned in winter, plums and cherry trees should be pruned in summer. Snowdrops and Bluebells can be hart to grow from bulbs, so it is advised to buy plants. You need lime free soil for Camellias. Begonias last long and don’t mind a bit of wet.

Delicious teas and scones were served by Mary Nolan, Alice Cod and Margaret Kelly. Well done to Dympna Kelly, who won the monthly competition of the ‘best decorated potato ‘.

Our next meeting will be on March 6 at 8 p.m. in Camross hall and the monthly competition will be the ‘nicest sugar bowl’.

If you want to expand your social life, learn new skills, take part in fun activities or just do something different in 2017, joining our fun and friendly group could be just what you are looking for. We hope to welcome you soon.

TAGHMON ICA

The January meeting took place on Wednesday, January 18. The meeting started with the demonstration by Betty Galvin. She showed us how to up style out outfits using simple accessories. Its amazing how something ad simple as a belt or scarf can completely change an outfit. She very kindly brought two pieces for the raffle. These were won by Eithne McGee and Carol Gray. We now need a night out to dazzle everyone.

The meeting then took place with the ICA prayer and a vote of sympathy with the Hanlon and Sinnott families in their recent bereavements. Discussions took place on how to use our Go for Life Grant. It is hoped to have Tai Chi classes with Heather Had rill starting soon. Anyone, who would like to join us, please contact Joan Bell.

Dates to remember are the Federation table quiz on February 23 and the federation meeting on February 27. Hostess for the evening was Kathleen Murray.

The next meeting takes place on Wednesday, March 14. New members always welcome. Meetings take place on the third Wednesday of every month at 7.30 p.m. in the Scout Hall. Come and join us.
