The A-team were away to forth Celtic today in the Neil o Sullivan cup and went down 3-2. We started the first half playing with the wind and there wasn’t a lot between both teams in the first 20 minutes as defences were on top, on a day when conditions were bitterly cold and wet there wasn’t a lot of chances in the first half. The game sprung to life on 57 minutes when forth took the lead with a rasping shot which went in off the underside of the crossbar, three minutes later it was level when Daz and Hermi combined to put Niall in to slot past the keeper.

On 65 minutes Forth took the lead again and then on 70 our job became harder when we went down to 10 men, but then on 78 minutes Hermi took on his man and was taken down for a penalty which Niall converted to level again. Both sides had chances in the last 10 minutes but it was forth who got the winner in the 91st minute following a goalmouth scramble. On the day our performance just wasn’t good enough. Best of luck to forth in the next round.

The B team were away today to Gorey Celtic in the cup. It was a miserable windy day and Gorey decided to play with the wind in the first half so we knew we had to stand strong and take some pressure but we were brilliant and kept our shape got the ball down and played a bit. They didn’t create much with the wind and we knew we could break their defence if we kept our heads and just before half time after some nice skill from Conor Neville he played the ball across the box and Gavin Sinnott has their to control it and finish to the bottom corner.

After the break with the wind we went at them and created a lot off chance with Conor coming close and Joe Sinnott had a free kick brilliantly saved out of the bottom corner. They had a couple of half chances but we stayed calm and came away with a deserved win. So it’s onto the next round for the b team.
