Couple married for 64 years die within 15 days

-

JOHN AND ANGELA STEBBING, Ban Milis, Ramstown, Fethard-on-Sea, passed away two weeks and one day of each other after 64 years of marriage.

John and Angela (née Kinsella) moved to Ramstown in 1971. They worked very hard as a team to build a tourist business and lived a very long and happy life together.

Angela passed away peacefully in her sleep at home aged 86 years on January 23 and John passed away suddenly in Wexford General Hospital aged 84 on February 7.

He had been happily residing New Ross Community Hospital and later in the Cherry Grove nursing home, Priesthaggard.

Angela was born in Talbot Street, Wexford. She grew up in Wexford and later Limerick. In the 1950s Angela moved to England where she met and married John.

They moved to Fethard-onSea in 1971 to start Ban Milis holiday park where Angela eventually opened her own restaurant which was a lifelong ambition of hers.

The restaurant grew and prospered for many years.

John, who constructed Ban Milis Park, went on to build the swimming pool which proved to be a fantastic amenity for the area.

Running swimming lessons for all ages it could be said that there is a whole generation in the Fethard-on-Sea area able to swim because of John’s efforts.

In later life they enjoyed travelling far and wide as well as many other long hours in their garden together, also enjoying trips away with the Ramsgrange Active Retirement group.

Both John and Angela were keen card players and Angela was active right up to her death.

She never missed a chance to play bridge at both Saltmills and Carrig on Bannow’s bridge clubs.

In the last week of her life she won third place.

Large crowds attended both funeral services at St Aidan’s church, Poulfur. The month’s mind mass takes place on Sunday, March 19, at 10 a.m.

John and Angela are predeceased by their daughter Lynda and sadly missed by their son kevin, daughter-in- law Eileen, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

May their gentle souls rest in peace.
