WALKING THE WORLD

PEACE walker Arthur Bogomil Burton was pictured in Ballycanew as he undertook a walk from Mizen Head to Malin Head.

Arthur, who refers to himself as a walker for peace, pacifist, conscienti­ous objector, human rights and environmen­tal activist, world citizen and Satya Yogi and Satyagrahi, was in North Wexford as part of his journey around the world promoting peace.

The inspiratio­nal peace activist has spent 25 years travelling the world on foot in a bid to spread the message of peace and is now walking the length of Ireland.

Arthur has been trekking across the globe spreading a message of harmony and campaignin­g for nuclear disarmamen­t since 1992. His travels have taken him to all corners of the world – from the middle east and Asia to South America and now Ireland.

He walks with two peace flags – the Earth Flag and the World Citizen Flag. He lives the spiritual life of Satya Yogi and Satyagrahi, has never been married, has never had any alcohol or smoked any substance and since the age of 20 has been strict vegetarian and now mainly raw-vegan.

Countries he has walked in include: Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovin­a, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Nepal, Netherland­s, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Suriname, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
