Mental Health to be highlighted at three workshops
EVERYONE is invited to attend a Mind your Mental Health Workshop on Wednesday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wexford Mental Health Centre, Henrietta Street, in Wexford.
This one day workshop is facilitated by Linda Thorpe, Area Development Officer at Mental Health Ireland,
Ms Thorpe said the workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on mental health and to learn strategies to enhance wellbeing. The workshop covers the following topics: Understanding your Mental Health and Wellbeing, Stress and Thinking Patterns, Mental Health Difficulties, Recovery and Support and Minding your Mental Health.
A Wellness Recovery Action Plan ( WRAP) workshop takes place on Tuesday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 8 from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at Wexford Mental Health Centre, Henrietta Street in Wexford. Ms Thorpe said WRAP is a self-management tool that can help individuals take more control over their own wellbeing and recovery, recognising that people are the experts on themselves. ‘A WRAP is a tool for learning more about ourselves and the things that help us recover and stay well. WRAP can be helpful to anyone with an interest in better planning and managing their mental health and wellbeing – even if they have never experienced significant mental illness.’
WRAP facilitator training forms are available for upcoming facilitator training if anybody is interested in becoming a WRAP facilitator. There is a requirement that WRAP level 1 training needs to be completed in advance of this training.
A Principals of Child Rearing workshop takes place on Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wexford Mental Health Centre, Henrietta Street in Wexford. This course is sponsored by Wexford Mental Health Association and will be delivered by Dr Vincent Molony, a retired consultant psychiatrist. It is aimed for parents of children aged 4-12 years old. Topics covered include:· Understanding your child’s behaviours, Communicating with your child, Making Memories and Healthy Mind Development in Children. Places on all of these courses are limited.
