-

HUNDREDS of mourners will pay their final respects to murdered father-of-three David Motcha Walsh tomorrow ( Wednesday).

29-year-old David was allegedly stabbed to death in Sydney, Australia, in the early hours of Saturday, February 18. His fiancée, Tina Cahill, from Pondsfield, New Ross, was arrested at the scene and charged with his murder.

David from Moran Park, Enniscorthy, was found with a stab wound to his neck at the couple’s home in Sydney’s Padstow district, which they shared with two of Ms Cahill’s friends from New Ross.

The body of David, who was the son of John and Ann, was brought home earlier this week. A GoFundme campaign set up by David’s friend, Joe Doran, to support the Walsh family during this tragic time has already raised $16,550.

David’s funeral will take place tomorrow ( Wednesday) in St Aidan’s Cathedral at 10 a.m. with burial afterwards in Enniscorthy Cemetery.

He is survived by his heartbroken parents John and Ann, daughters Ava, Aine and Erin and their mother Caroline, brothers Jonathan, Patrick, Barry, Steven, Kalem, sister Faith, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

David’s devastated family said that ‘part of us is gone with him’.

Speaking yesterday two of David’s brothers Jonathan and Barry, said 29-year-old David from Moran Park was the ‘ backbone’ of their close family.

‘David was the best brother you could ask for. He was a hard worker and a great brother and father. He did everything for his daughters and he was always helping out people.

‘He did a lot of work for older people in the town. He was the type of chap that would do anything for anyone.

‘David was the life and soul of the party. He was always jovial and upbeat. He was a real happy-go-lucky type of person and really very witty.’

David, who would have turned 30 on April 18 ,was very close to his three daughters, Ava, Aine and Erin. ‘He was a great father to the girls. He had gone to Australia because there was no work here. He was a brilliant father, son, uncle and friend. He was very good to his nieces and nephews and they thought the world of him.’

Jonathan said that the family are ‘coping as best we can. All our friends have been great and we have had plenty of support. David was well liked and well thought of by many people in the town. ‘A lot of people had a lot of time for him.’ David was a very active person and played soccer with Enniscorthy United and he also boxed. In addition he also helped to train younger lads starting off. ‘He was always playing sports and on the go.’

Jonathan said that the Walsh family are a very close family adding that ‘part of us is gone with him’.
