ALWAYS THEM – WHY NOT ME?

-

THIS is the second year we have three leaders sharing their experiences with you in this newspaper. If you followed last year’s leaders then you’d be aware of the courage they showed when faced with struggles along their journey. They backed themselves without any guarantee of success. Happily they all succeeded.

This is a new year. A fresh beginning. A question that needs to be asked and answered by you now is: What changes will I make for 2017? Am I going to admire other people’s achievements or am I going to knuckle down and create some of my own?

There is a lot of momentum around getting fit this time of year. It is everywhere in the media and hard to miss. If there is one temptation I recommend you give into this year – it is the fitness temptation. Ordinary people are doing extraordinary things. You can be one of them. Your time has come.

I wrote this poem which sums it up in a nutshell: I’ve been hanging in the background, Watching from my safe place, Observing everyone else succeed, Feeling some disgrace. My abilities are equal, My skill levels are high. If only I would use them, Then I’d do more than just get by. Now I feel motivated, Driven by my Goal. I will no longer play second best, And that excites my soul. I wonder why I hesitated, I wonder why I crawled, The world is opening up for me My life has truly evolved
