-

The new 5th generation L200 Doublecab has been developed as a ‘Sport Utility Truck’ that reaches new heights of reliability, toughness, interior comfort and manoeuvrability.

The 2.4 litre MIVEC turbo-charged diesel engine generates 133kw (181hp) & 430Nm of torque. It features greatly improved fuel consumption, with the introduction of the world’s first pickup, powered by an engine block constructed from aluminium, meaning engine weight has been reduced by an amazing 30kg, contributing to better fuel economy and dynamic performance. Fuel consumption has been greatly improved on with the Manual version returning 6.6l/100km or nearly 43mpg (down from 7.7l/100km - 37mpg in the previous model) an improvement of 17%.

SS4-II (Super Select 4WD II (w/low gear, fulltime 4WD) offers outstanding cornering stability on paved roads, drivers can choose from four driving modes by rotating the new drive mode selector making off-road driving a pleasure. Active Stability & Traction Control with Trailer Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist systems and Lane Departure Warning provide the driver with previously unseen safety technology in Sport Utility Trucks.

During development a number of items were worked on not only to greatly increase passenger comfort but also to raise the towing capacity and all round performance. Optimised suspension tuning, extended leaf springs & increased body mounting capacity raise the braked capacity to 3,100kgs. Manoeuvrability certainly doesn’t suffer, it’s turning circle of 5.9m is still best in class with an amazing steering wheel lock from 4.3 to 3.8 lock to lock revolutions.

The L200 gives driver and occupants even more space with best in class interior length. Shoulder room is increased by 10mm, rear leg room by 20mm and overall interior length by 20mm. The driving position can be altered to suit different driver heights with tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment.
