DESPITE THE bitterly cold night on Thursday, there was a good turn-out at Enniscorthy Dog Track for the Kennedy Cup squad fundraising night.

The first final of the year was run in race six, the Kennedy Cup squad A2, and the Francis Kentowned Except Change was a very impressive winner.

Showing her field a clean pair of paws to the first bend, she was always in total control after that even tough Almost Blazing was finishing fast to get to a length behind her at the line.

Except Change had the race in safe keeping in a good time of 29.01 and has now scored seven times from 16 outings.

In race eight, an A2, her litter sister Our Little Dolly produced a similar-type performance, blasting up from her trap four box to lead and race home a very comfortable winner in a time of 29.16.

The consistent Rathsilla Messi recorded his eleventh race win when taking race one over the sprint trip of 350 yards, taking up the running up at the first bend to come away for a snug victory in a time of 19.21.

There was a very good win for Wexford town owner Brendan Frayne at Waterford on Saturday when his Honest Suckle flew from traps in the last race to go on to score her ninth career win in a best of the night time of 28.73, with a flying 3.14 split.

There was no racing again at Shelbourne Park on Friday and Saturday, and there will not be for the foreseeable future. People are now donating funds to fight the I.G.B. in the courts over the closure of a profitable race track.
