Of his clubmates, Ciarán Maher was fourth in the Junior 200m as was Conor Wilson in the Under-23 category. Wrapping up a good day for the club was the ever-improving Shaun Donohue who took bronze in the Under-23 400m event having won his heat (medals were decided on times).
Moving to the in-field, James Fortune of Enniscorthy A.C. placed third in the Senior long jump. Clubmate Peter O’Connor bagged a second silver medal, this time in the Junior long jump. Emmanuel Ogbanna of Menapians placed third in the Under-23 triple jump.
The Masters athletes of U.S.A.C. were well represented on the podium. Aine Cullen was runner-up in both high jump and shot putt. Mick O’Gorman, competing in high jump and long jump, also picked up a pair of silvers.
On the track there were more silver medals for Gavin Kelly over 200m, Sonya Byrne in the 800m, and Ted Flannelly over the 15 laps of the 3,000m.
It was also a good weekend for Menapians A.C’s Masters athletes. Siobhán Doyle came home a double Leinster champion, winning the 60m and 200m against some very tough competition. Dave Percival took bronze in a tight 200m finish.
