Allison turns home baking hobby into thriving business

-

A hobby baking cake pots and novelty things for friends and friends has turned into a thriving business for Allison Johnson who produces an eclectic range of cupcakes that she turns into stunning floral bouquets.

She runs her ‘Bouquets and Buttercream’ business from her home just outside Taghmon and in the few months she has been trading has received ‘fantastic feedback’.

‘i had been a bit of a hobby baker for years and years,’ said Allison, who moved to Ireland from the UK a little over two years ago.

‘My partner works and with young children finding a job is difficult and I realised that if I can make money from what was a hobby that has to be a good thing,’ she said.

‘I make a whole range of different cake flavours, with a myriad of colour and styles and every single bouquet is unique,’ said Allison, who has three children aged seven, nine and 14.

‘I’m trying to break into the wedding market at the moment,’ she said.

While Allison’s business is very much a solo effort, she said her partner ‘might help if I run out of something and send him out in the middle of the night to the shops.’

Allison said all her creations are fresh and cooked to order.

‘I have displays in a number of stores in Wexford town & New Ross and have been featured by a prominent local fashion blogger on Facebook,’ she said.
